Yes, "at the dealership" status in "my garage" has never been reliable even for the cars assembled in Spartanburg, SC. The best way to make sure your car is at the dealership is to contact your SA.

I'm curious what kind of inspection & service facility BMW has at the ports.
Is it a big garage with lots of techs with state of the art workshops checking & reworking lots of cars, or is it one stevodore in a dusty hole with a roll of baling wire and duck tape? |

I have driven by the port in Brunswick a few times. You ought to check out the Google satellite pictures. It is a mind-blowing amount of asphalt parking lots. Thousands of cars. Areas for most of the major manufacturers. Not much covered space.

I have this image in my head of some dude trying to jury rig the wiring harnesses that were cut too short or routed wrong. I wonder how much they can be stretched by a couple of strong guys with water pump pliers?
At first it sounded like an OTA code update. But now we read: Apparently "Rework wiring harness parking distance control (PDC)" |

My iX 50 came in and we spent a lot of time on a rainy day going through it at the dealers.
First and major impression is that it is, in our eyes, drop dead gorgeous, I truly love this car, and really enjoy driving it. Found the sole seeming glitch within the first few minutes. The location (gps, nav, map etc) was stuck in the Port of Newark area or sometimes in lower bay. It had the operating software updated at the BMW shop at the port bfore being loaded on the transporter. All were hoping it would find itself after driving for a while, so I took it for a very sweet 6 hour loop through the Catskills & left it outside while I charged it last night. It never updated, so first thing this morning the dealer sent me another iX loaner by concierge, along with apologies and lots of goodwill. I'm sure they'll get it sorted quickly, and in mean time I have a great car to drive, so no harm. I'll post some pix when I get her back home. And will finish our detal checkout when the gps is right. |
