The Aston drives very differently than the FF. Much more of a GT feel and the automatic transmission feels a lot different than the DCT in the FF. I’d say it’s more comfortable despite the FF being pretty comfortable already, could easily do a 6 hour drive in the Aston. Sound system is incredible, maybe the best I’ve heard in any car. Leather quality seems a step above the Ferrari but both are very nice. The V12 is more of a throaty sound compared to the high pitched scream of the FF. Both great cars, I was more impressed with the Vanquish than I expected to be.

If i could have lived with 2 seats the Vantage would have been on my list, circa MY2010ish. The issue with Aston's is the servicing cost, it is properly insane. I went with a 997.2 cab and yeah Porsche servicing is expensive, even at an indy, but the Aston, seriously nearly double.

I think they look great and on the shitty rods I have near me maybe a better set up than the uber responsive 997, but it's never gonna be as chuckable as a 1300kg 911.

It’s not all that bad at an Indy, obv dealer is going to wreck your wallet. But that’s also part of the reason Aston’s get killed on resale so it goes both ways. 911s are amazing cars but with the recent run up in prices I think that Aston’s are a better “value” in the current market. Plus a V12 is a V12.

Yes sir. I was a little surprised how great the Aston sounded, not sure why I was expecting less but it’s glorious.

The local Aston dealer invited me to a DBX driving event last year despite having no previous Aston ownership and I was expecting it to be just kind of a meh SUV that was way overpriced but I was honestly blown away how much I liked it, and the 707 version is even better. They also put on a really nice event at a $10m mansion fully catered with live music, bunch of exotics on display, a guy drawing Aston paintings from scratch that they gave to everyone, gave me a full hour with the car by myself, etc. Definitely improved my perception of the brand. Everything was super tasteful and classy without being overdone.

Next, I think I'm going to get as much Boxster as I can afford. I want something that feels more analog, and I would love the agility and feel of a mid-engine car. And I'm willing to go back to as early as 2012 when the 981s were introduced. I've driven those a few times, and they were utterly fantastic driver's cars. A manual, 981 GTS would be perfect.

I figure with multiple ride-sharing apps which don't seem to be going anywhere and the advent of Turo, I'm no longer looking for practicality. It'll be cheaper for me to simply rent a car (or I'll use Uber/Lyft) when I need to drive multiple people around. Owning an SUV or sedan 365 days/year just to have it for when I need to move or haul people is no longer making fiscal sense with car payments, insurance fees, increased emissions regulations, etc.

So, I'm going all in...only fun cars for me from here on out, though they won't all be manuals. I'll rent "practicality" when I need it.

Life is simply too short.

Just got a note from the dealer yesterday, now have a VIN for the new BRZ and ETA is Aug 28th. I'm starting to get a bit excited. Already have all the suspension stuff for it.

Next step is to decide what wheels. Leaning toward the Titan forged wheels, but still not sure.

Enjoy! How was the buying experience considering the horror stories we're hearing? Any ADM or shenanigans?

Pretty easy. They tried to put an ADM of $1k on the car, when they mentioned that, I stood up and thanked them for their time. And just said, I won't pay anything over MSRP.

They removed the ADM on the condition that I financed through them. If they don't give me a good rate, I'll just refinance through PenFed and they will lose their commission.

My sales guy has been pretty awesome.

yup

Srsly, it most likely costs much more than the ADM of $1K if he was originally planning to pay in cash.

Incidentally, that's part of the negotiating trick, don't tell them you're paying in cash when bargaining about the price until the very end because they figure they'd always get you back via the lending terms. If you pay outright, they got nothing.

Why would you pay cash when current rates are below the rate of inflation?
