What was your biggest buyer's remorse situation?

What was your biggest buyer's remorse situation?

If you do not know what buyer's remorse is when you purchase something, with a large amount of money most likely, and you instantly have this regretful feeling of "oh I should not have purchased that".

Pretty much same reason for both. Lack of soul to keep it plain & simple. Neither did anything inherently wrong but neither did much of anything exciting / different.

CARS! I've made bad decisions. Done some impulse buying. Glad I'm old. Don't really care about cars now (that much). Just want something fun. Easy to drive. Paid for - most important. That there tells you I don't care about cars anymore. Will never let another car put me in debt. Without going into detail, I've let cars control part of my life. I'm free of that now. House paid for, cars, wife's and mine, paid for. All done with that.

Lol that would be buying a Vauxhall car with V6 engine some time ago, nothing but trouble, in the end had to scrap it to cut losses.

2020 X3M40i, the next day... Had half of the options I had on my 2016 MKX.

Had it for 10 months, replaced with a fully loaded LCI and nothing was missing when it showed 5 weeks after I ordered it.

Mine usually occurred when I lowered my expectations and purchased something that wasn't as nice as the one I originally wanted.

After my many years on this planet I've arrived at the point where I'll happily have fewer things, but of the highest quality possible.

I had an 05 Acura TL years and years ago. It was a nice car but when I bought it there was a manual option available at another dealer. I was having some back troubles at the time and went with the automatic. Only went with the automatic because of my back which was a temporary issue....anyway I wanted the manual version of that car the entire time I owned the automatic one after my back issues resolved lol

My 2016 X6 50. I had 2 E71s; a 2010 50 and a 2013 ///M. They were the same other than the power. When my lease was up on the 2013, Decided to go with the F16 50 due to one of the packages I didn’t like in the ///M. I didn’t test drive it because I assumed it would be the same. My bad. I hated it. It was nothing like any of my previous BMWs. It was floaty and the steering was ridiculously loose even with Sports + settings. What happened to the stiff suspension and tight steering? Handling sucked. I lasted 3 months and eventually found a 2016 ///M at a dealer and switched out. It cost me a chunk of change to get out of the lease but the world was right again.

2nd House, with ex wife! Judge awarded the equity out of current house and she kept the bigger house not that I wanted it. Was far too big for one person.

Just mad I sold an E30 M3 and couple of other toys for deposit on it.

Not exactly instantly - but any of the N54 powered BMWs I bought were just reliability and maintenance disasters - anyone that tell you otherwise is a liar. I do regret buying them.

While I'm not sure I would go as far as saying cars control my life, I have bought waaaaaay too many cars in my life. I use to be on like a 1-2 years max before I bought something "new". I've gotten better, but definitely not cured.

The only car I truly regret buying though was my e92 335i. It was my first BMW having owned mainly VWs before. First mistake, bought it new, I rarely buy new anymore, helps lessen the damage of my addiction. I was not a huge fan of those e92 interiors with the dual humps, but I convinced myself I would get use to it. I never did, I hated it till the day I got rid of it. Plus the thing was a total POS and probably spent more time at the dealer than in my garage.

Having bought it new I was way upside down on it. Luckily it ended up getting totaled and I got more from insurance than I would have ever gotten trading it in.

A more minor regret is my drone. Bought it before heading off for our RV adventures but ended up almost never using it. Found there are so many restrictions and it's actually super loud. Couldn't use it in any national parks and a lot of local parks also restricted the use. Add to that my fear of losing the damn thing and I ended up only flying it a handful of time.

Kind of similar. You get an addiction to buying and modding cars, but you don't get comp'd like you would if you gambled that money away. I've lost tens of thousands over the years with some of my cars. I would probably be put in the presidential suite if I laid that money out on the craps table.
