After about 450hp it's always a battle of traction. He who can keep the wheels stuck usually wins.

I hope I don't get my head bitten off for my next remark;
What is the point of comparing a bluefin to an albatross? Comparing an EV with ICE is exactly that; they share nothing in common other than the fact that they both have four wheels and a BMW badge Entertaining? Maybe! Relevant? Maybe not!

Wet environment + RWD will always lose to AWD! Not to mention how they played music to drown out the M3's exhaust note.

I know, right!
One of my disappointments is that ai can't get the "M" seats in the USA.

Exactly. Seems like the i4 might match the RWD M3 in the qtr mile, but not the Xdrive.

No surprise here. Just look at the launch position of the i4 in the video preview image. That instant torque is pretty impressive. Nonetheless, it would be nice to see the comparative stats across multiple different tests (.25 mile, cornering, dry pavement, xDrive on the M3, etc.) for a true comparison of the cars.

I can't tell if the pavement is wet, or simply because of it being overcast + headlights on + dark time of the day? **edit** nevermind, it is damped, you can see the front wheels of the M3 in the video when it does a parking speed crawl with the wheels turned, the tread was damped.
Either way, I did a quick comparo on MotorMatchUp's site: https://www.motormatchup.com/simulat...=0&surface=DRY and got this. Keep in mind that the M50 is limited to 140mph and reaches it before the 1/2 mile mark:

First of all, anyone who is kind enough to tell when the race action start time is in the video, goes on Santa's nice list. Second, impressive from the i4. Third, was the M4 rear wheel drive, if so AWD would be better comparison. Fourth, what techno song is that - bmw always finds great music for ads

This is just sad… the fact that BMW needs to stiff a test and put down one of their flagship vehicles to sell the i4 is telling.
