A couple questions...

1. Is there a way to code it so that the car will run on the range extender 1st, saving the battery for later?

2. If so, is it possible to select which motor (electric or Rex) you use while driving?

Thanks!

Keep in mind the i3 always uses the battery to propel the car, and the REX is just a generator to add more energy into the pack (hopefully at a rate equal or faster than you're consuming it). With the coding, you can set it so that once you fall below the 75% SOC (state of charge) threshold, you can manually force it to turn on the REX to start to recharge the car. But first off you must be at 75% SOC or below, and secondly, if you are consuming energy faster than the REX is making it, you'll still see the SOC go down.

To answer your second question, once again you are never using the REX to move the car, just to recharge the pack. But if you are below 75% SOC and have done the appropriate coding, you could manually turn on the REX whenever desired in the correct conditions.
