I'm ok with this. I agree with the law - with the kind of morons I see driving EV's, give me a fighting chance as a pedestrian to at least hear you coming...

I can get with it. Better than silence.

It's better than nothing I guess. Sounds better than any other EV so far, the Taycan included (which sounds as soft as Kevin Durant's personality). I'm glad BMW understands the value of acoustics in creating an engaging driving experience.
Unfortunately the world we live in now is dominated by software for literally every facet of life. "Organic" things have all been replaced by software and it's already happening to cars. I just hope that some ICE cars can live on in the way luxury mechanical watches have.

Yes, absolutely! The essence of BMW has always been its straight six petrol engines! Once the leftist eco warriors have finally forced the rest of us (without any consent) to only be able to buy range-limited electric new cars, I will simply switch from buying new to used!

I like it!
But gosh darn, if they put this much thought, effort and creativity into how their cars sounded, I'd still be driving an M3. #f80 #g80 |

Yeah absolutely. There's going to be electrification added to new ///M cars to improve output and consumption. It's just not possible moving forward to do so with straight ICEs. Akin to how it became impossible for NAs to keep up with the output/consumption improvements of equipping turbos.
As long as the electrification adds to the drama instead of tames it, these are exciting times ahead not depressing.

I think it's pretty neat.
If you read what was posted, you would have noticed the artificial sound is completely eliminated in ECO Pro driving mode. If you want comfortable and quiet, you likely won't feel the need to drive like a mad man anyhow, so this makes sense. You can choose to keep it calm and quiet, or drive intensely with some emotional sound output to enhance that experience. It's a BMW. It should still be the Ultimate Driving Machine over the competition. If you want boring, go buy something else. Besides, I'm sure it can be coded out completely if you want quiet 100% of the time. Not sure why all the complaining over this one!

Hate fake engine sounds with petrol, but it totally makes sense with electric power. Why not? The alternative is some random whine. It fits electric and adds drama.
Now will an electric be a true M car? Will have to look past the thousand badges and drive one to find out. |
