Dedicated EV Platform

From Automotive News today. For those who seek a dedicated EV platform as the only solution, BMW will not be your brand. But, if sharing a platform with Rolls Royce is intriguing, standby!

I like the idea of using the EV structure to accommodate for gas engines, and not the other way around.

Depends on how much compromise they have to implement to make this happen. There must be reasons why no other manufacturers are doing this, the cost saving is considerable. Hope that it is not "Jack of all trades, master of none".

Let's hope it gets a couple things right at least. Lower center of gravity and better aerodynamics would be nice to see. Gonna need all the engineering magic we can get for these increasingly chunkier cars.

One advantage is can use one production line for all the different powertrains. Will see how this turns out for the end product with i4.

The above article would apply to the next-gen i4....the H26? The New Class platform follows the CLAR platform on the i4 just now launching, so second half of this decade would be expected.
