Tesla quality has recently been rated by its own owner body in a large sample survey as worst in industry.
I've test driven the Model S twice, once in 2014, and again earlier this year. Even as their flagship, it feels like it's held together with duct tape and balsa wood. They will get their QC improved eventually, but they aren't there yet.

And BMW says 0-100 in AROUND 4 seconds, that is relative.
Not on the Norwegian site, it says Max 600 KM WLTP but it also say that it will sprint from 0-100 in 4 seconds. We'll have to wait for the final numbers, of course, but that's what it says.

Regarding pricing, the i4 is supposed to be priced to compete with the Model 3, so the price should be around that for --I'd expect-- the Charged Plus version or something like that.

I was checking how much would an M3 cost well equipped but without adding the fees and tax, and it comes down to about USD90K. So I'm thinking that's a ballpark price for the i4 M50 (at least here in Norway). That's around how much my 330e Touring costs here, so I might get the M50 if the price is around that.

Hmmm i am a bit dispointed in the way the reveal went down, The cars will be fine but what i took from the video is "there will be a high performance" version of the i4 that either means there is a proper i4M comming sens this one is called m50 a Performance version with a m sport package and not a full blown M so how will the full blown M be like beacause this one is rather Quick.

Perhaps the service employee from BMW Germany was right a few weeks ago. He told me via chat that all dates and prices for the i4 will be published from June 2nd.

I hope for tomorrow BMW

That's why you need to move out of high priced/tax Cali. I don't see electric cars selling well outside of the big metro areas.

That M logo is butchered. What a disgrace the rear badging is, BMW is pulling out all the stops to sale the i brand to the masses.

Yes, it is on June 2nd, but European time. This was reported in this site already:

https://g80.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=1826372

"The BMW i4 is a fully electric 4-door Gran Coupé which will arrive in the U.S. market in early 2022. Pre-orders will begin on June 1, 2021 at 3:01 p.m. PST / 6:01 p.m. EST." (June 1st 3:01PM PST = 00:01 of June 2nd CEST)

And, from your own post: https://g20.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh...89&postcount=3

Since the grille is gloss black I imagine the i4 M50 looks amazing in black! Someone experienced in photoshop do a quick color swap?

Hideous. These things are the reason the G8x have a giant pig nose...so these EV’s can f*ck off. I’d buy a Tesla 10x over before one of these failures.

That's also probably the right ratio for differences in vehicle problems.

I don't know if this info is published elsewhere, but I haven't seen it on this site at least. This is for the iX:

QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS:

Will there be more range / engine variants?

Yes. From the start, we offer xDrive40 (> 400 km range * /> 300 hp) and xDrive50 (> 600 km range * /> 500 hp).

* WLTP combined

How much does a BMW iX cost?
xDrive40 starts at NOK 659,000 and xDrive50 starts at NOK 799,000
Campaign model ‘Fully Charged’ is available for NOK 795,000 and NOK 935,000 respectively.

What is DC + AC charging capacity?
Both xDrive40 and xDrive50 have a maximum AC charging capacity of 11 kW 3-phase. XDrive50 has a maximum of 200 kW DC capacity, while the maximum DC capacity for xDrive40 is approx. 150 kW.

What is the maximum weight of a trailer?
The maximum weight of a trailer for a BMW iX with a factory-fitted trailer hitch is 2,500 kg (12% pitch, trailer w / brake).

Is there room for two ISOfix child seats on the 2nd row of seats + a non-ISOfix child seat in the middle?
The 2nd row of seats comes with ISOfix attachment points for two child seats, but due to the shape of the rear seats, there is no room for a third seat when ISOfix seats are fitted. However, the second row of seats has enough space for three child seats that are not ISOfix. In any case, we recommend taking your child seats to the nearest BMW dealer to test when the BMW iX becomes available.

When will the first cars be delivered to customers?
The BMW iX will be launched in November 2021, delivery of the first cars will begin after that.

Will it be possible to order a BMW iX with comfort seats with lumbar support, adjustable thigh support, etc.?
The BMW iX is designed with a comfortable, slightly asymmetrical seat geometry with electric adjustment and integrated headrests as standard. Depending on the chosen interior design, the look, feel and seam pattern will vary. As an upgrade, multifunction can be selected. This provides memory for seat and steering wheel settings, massage function and lumbar support. It is also possible to choose seat ventilation as an option.

Will it be possible to mount a ski box / roof rack?
Yes, the BMW iX comes with mounting points on the roof as standard, and is compatible with a BMW Original roof rack and BMW Original roof boxes.

Will a heat pump be standard equipment?
Yes, the BMW iX comes with an energy efficient heat pump for heating and cooling the interior and the battery.

What is the electrical consumption?
The electrical consumption of the BMW iX is around 20-21 kWh / 100 km respectively.

What is the ground clearance of the iX?
The BMW iX has a ground clearance of about 199 mm. XDrive50 with Adaptive Air Suspension also has the option of slightly increased clearance when needed.

Will the heated steering wheel be available?
Yes, 3-speed steering wheel heating is available separately as an option or as a part or the Heat Comfort package, which also includes rear seat heating and heating panels in the armrests, door panels and lower part of the instrument panel.

How big is the trunk?
The BMW iX has a large luggage compartment of about 500 liters, including space under the floor for storing cables and equipment, but no luggage compartment in front. The rear seats are fully foldable (Shared 40:20:40). In the design of the new BMW iX, interior space has been a focal point. The BMW iX impresses with generous leg and shoulder space at the front and rear and a flat floor.

Will the interior quality be the same as the i3 or other models?
The high interior quality of the BMW iX can be compared to the BMW X5, but like the BMW i3, a high level of natural materials is used. The leather is tanned in olive leaves, FSC-certified wood and flower mats are made of ECOnyl (recycled nylon waste from eg fishing nets and sea plastic).

Will the BMW iX be offered with air suspension with adjustable ride height?
The BMW iX xDrive50 comes with Adaptive Air Suspension as standard. The ride height can be adjusted manually from -10 mm to + 20 mm.

Will only the bronze details be offered?
The exterior details of the BMW iX come as standard in the BMW in Blue. These can be replaced with high-gloss Shadow Line or Titan Bronze details.

What color combinations are available for the interior?
Standard Atelier interiors in artificial leather will be available in these colors Black, Mocha and Oyster. The loft interior in microfiber / cloth will be available in the color Stonegrey. The suede interior will be available in the colors Castanea and Amido.

Are the BMW iX Android Auto and Apple Carplay compatible?
Yes, both Android Auto and Apple CarPlay compatibility come standard on the BMW iX.

How are interior dimensions compared to a BMW X5?
The interior dimensions of the BMW iX are similar to the BMW X5, but with improved leg, head and shoulder space.

yea if I didn't love my small town and my golf club I would def move, but hard to leave it as of now. However at the trajectory things are going, CA is getting rough no doubt, especially on my bank account. Taxes are def impacting me personally.

I think a lot of people who are "green" will also be interested in this car no mater where they live, metro or not. Just like Tesla. I think BMW will do well, but they have a lot of comp out there for sure so it will be interesting to see how it shakes out. I live in a town of about 5000 people mostly ranchers and there is so many Teslas and electric cars around here. Leads me to believe they will be popular even in small towns. but who knows

Excuse the silly question but how does pre-ordering work?

I've never put down a deposit on a pre production car before but I assume you pay the deposit then work out terms with your dealer closer to production date. I'd hate to put a deposit down just to find out dealer won't budge on any discounts off build.
