Same. I tried placing a deposit but weird redirect and no confirmation so I am going to assume it didn't work. Might just wait til I can get a better deal through a dealership. Honestly by the time this is released, there will be a ton of options on the market from other brands so it will really fall on BMW to sell me it.

The deposit only buys you one of the first allocations at your dealer. Which means that there is no need for negotiation unless you are a regular dealer customer, and they care about that.

If you do not care about being one of the first then wait for the sales reality after 6 months… discounts and rebates will come.

And, the plant and the operators therein will have experience assembling this new model in volume, and issues that didn't come up in development will be found in the field...it's almost inevitable. Downside of servicing one of the first far exceeds the upside bragging, based on years of data that shows the quality result of new programs.

Pre-order

Anyone successfully pre-order? I saw March, 2022 originally as the delivery date on the pre-order site but see it has since moved to June, 2022.

Very interesting sheet about the i4. klick
It seems like there are almost as many options as with a ICE 4 Series, which will raise the final price even more. That will be a lot more expensive than a Tesla Model 3, which is probably the strongest competitor of the i4.

The maximum power of 400kw is a time-limited power in Sport Boost mode. The permanent power is 350kw.

The tire sizes go up to 255/35 20 at the front and 285/30 20 at the rear, which will significantly increase consumption. (I think i will get 19 inch wheels)

As BMW generally underrates their cars (performance), I am hoping they follow that trend with their range estimates. Would be delightful if that 300 mile range turns out to be an actual 320-325 mile range.

We shall see....................

I hope so as well, but a big factor is the driving style. BMW is a company with a long history and a large collection of classic cars. It's a collection of vehicles that are adored by fans and venerated by practically all automotive lovers. It is, nevertheless, a brand with a slew of fantastic automobiles that fly under the radar, cars that are underappreciated. I hope that the new generation of the electric cars cars will be on a new level, and people will like them as much as these which we drive at the moment, or even more.

First pre-order MY2022 batch sold out, I would guess that any pre-order placed from now on will be a MY2023 model.

For me...it comes down to bad quality and questionable service (Tesla) and ugly with range issues (BMW). I will just wait it out.

I couldn't resist.
My pre-order puts me at the head of the line at my preferred dealer.

I like the i4 M50. I've seen the grill in person on an M4. It looks better on a dark car.

as far as the range issue. Meh. I rarely drive that far in a day and have a L2 charger already. We are on our third EV (two gone). My M50 will be our fourth.
