Are you the one who uses it for day to day regular cleaning?

Woof! Those Mieles are pricey beasts. I'm a big believer that you get what you pay for, but that's a big leap for a vac.

That's true but if I've added up all the $ I'd spent on other brands of vacuums over the past 20 years didn't like, and ditched, I'd have saved a ton by just getting a Miele in the first place

You're a better man than me, that's for sure!
Between the weight of lugging it, the hassle of changing from carpets to the hose that falls apart easily, I gave up on that tank after 8 months.

Plus it's useless when you're trying to drag it around corners and such.

So here's what I'd like in a vac.

1. A canister vac. I like the rolling canister type with an upright "beater bar" that has a belt-driven brush.

2. Bag vac. Can't stand bagless vacs except for small hand helds.

3. A visual indicator that the bag is full or near full.

4. Something that rolls around corners easily and can run over its own power cord (something my current vac won't do).

Anyone have a vac they really like?
A wife.

I've had a dyson cordless for about 10 years. Ran over some water with it once, took it apart, let it dry out and haven't had another problem out of it since. I'll buy a v8 animal at some point in the near future.

I vacuum throughout the week with the dyson. On Sunday evenings, when I do my weekly deep clean, I'll break out the plug in vacuum. I think it's a Eureka or something, it's yellow, bag-less and the only thing it doesn't seem to suck is what soul I have left after the two ex-wives.

Judging from the pricing, you could have retired.

And yet you purchased a Dyson.

My whole family uses Rainbow vacuums. I always recommend them - work great and last many years.

And a rainbow will turn weekly cleaning into an "event" I ditched that one faster than our Kirby.

I'm no vacuum expert or nuffin, but do you think that the Dyson competitors have essentially incorporated the main important features of Dyson so that they're about the same nowadays? I have a dyson from about 6 years ago, and it wasn't cheap, but it was different than others at that time. But now I look around at companies like Dirt Devil and Shark and their "new" features and i'd be surprised if there was any real performance differences.

Ok now back to the track thread before i get my man card pulled.
