This. They are all pretty much disposable in terms of long-term quality.
Not all built the same.

I have a 15 year old Miele that has not had a single issue.

Watch this video on Samsung

A friend has a samsung top loader, they have had some problems with it, I think the tub was out of balance or something

I have a Bosch, it is ok. It is a front loader, I have had to replace the front seal once when it was just out of warranty. I have had to take it apart a couple more times because the door lock wouldn't work, so it won't do anything at all.

It also frequently gives a 'sud' warning. We use Tide pods, so its not like we are putting in more soap then you should. The 'sud' warning basically shuts it down, then you go to swap the laundry (just before bed) and find that you need to re-run the wash.

I personally don't like front loaders, so I wouldn't buy another. The Bosch is just 'ok' I wouldn't be in a hurry to buy another.

I learned to buy the cheaper washers. Fewer parts, fewer problems. Recent tech over to fix mine recommended nothing over $500

No point in repairing when you can buy a working one for the cost to repair a broken one.

I concur. Went through a handful of washers the last few years. Got a speed queen top loader. Simple, fast, efficient. Rated very high in quality.

The struts need to be replaced. Common issue with them. He can buy parts online and install himself in less than 30 minutes. Had to replace the struts on mine several times in 4 years....along with the water pump(s).....and the pump housing bracket.....and the circuit board.....
