I agree about Speed Queen, I wanted to get one, but because our set is very visible in our bedroom my wife wanted something with a more built in Euro look. We got the Miele set and they work very well, very quite too. We're in an apartment temporarily while we do some work and they have Whirlpool appliances which are garbage.

You should consider moving your bed out of the laundry room...

I will never buy another front loader and will never spend $4k on a set ever again. My last purchase was at a scratch and dent store. Bought whirlpool cabrio top load HE washer and dryer. Both with steam. The side of my dryer facing the wall looks like Chuck Norris put a roundhouse kick on it. They do a great job and I have $1000 invested in the pair. In my twenties and thirties I treated washers and driers like show pieces. Now I treat them like a tool. When people come over and want a house tour it doesn't occur to me to show them the laundry room.

Get a Samsung washer or dryer. I have them for the last 10 years and they are great. The washer has only broke six times and the dryer once.

I use a samsung front loader at home and at work for shop wrags and what not. Both have been flawless for the year or so I've had them. Bosch is good too. It doesnt really matter what brand you buy these days, just the price tier.- manufacturing is all the same. You get what you pay for.

This is far from a good recommendation. If your washer has broken 6 times in in 10 years, I would find another washer.

Also google reliability of Samsung washing machines. After a guy had his jaw broken and another had X amount of property damage incurred to his home from their exploding washers, they finally stopped making the models in question and started issuing recalls/refunds.

I know this because I was one of the customers they had to buy their washer and dryer back from. Bought brand new, had the set for less than 5 years, 4 recalls, countless service tech visits, house flooded 4 times. Samsung bought my LG set for me. Haven't had a problem since. I have a thread on here somewhere about the entire experience. Being broken 6 times in 10 years is hardly reliable.

Sarcasm my friend. I love my Samsung and I love my BMW, what do they have in common? Both unreliable

No they are the exact opposite of BMW. Simple tech built reliably.

i'd go a whirlpool product and avoid TV manufacturers like the plague. So Maytag, Whirlpool branded machines or Speed Queen if you can convince the wife.

Exactly. Samsung is the BMW of washers. SpeedQueen is the Toyota Camry of washers. No fancy technology. It just works. every. damn. time.

Funny this thread popped back up now that I am thinking about replacing our Kenmore Elite front load set before they start acting up. They're about 10 years old and have been 100% flawless, not a single service call or problem or complaint.

I took his post as sarcasm, but I'm glad that you clarified it for everyone who doesn't know about the Samsung fiasco.

Although not readily available in North America any more, we have had very good luck with our 15-year-old Bosch front-loaders. Other than a broken drum strut in the washer and blown light bulb in the dryer, they have been bulletproof for two adults.....
