Anyone that go's to Foxwoods Casino in CT Get off I-95, visit the Submarine Force Library & Museum in Groton (20 min away) The USS Nautilus is open and you get to realize how they lived for long periods of time, The museum is no charge and full of history.

My wife (military brat) loved it, almost as much as playing blackjack and No-Limit Hold'Em

Yes, she plays better than me, bailed me out loosing nights many many times
Been there, loved it.......and the lobster roll place nearby........

Edit: yes, New London/Groton is a nice New England area for sure, plenty of clam shacks and antique shops to loaf around for an afternoon.

Do not go near the base just to see it, my front tire hit a painted line @ the entrance as I was making a 3 point turn (it's congested) and yes I messed up but a bunch of MAs (navy security) told me I needed to verify my self, let them check my truck etc. completely overblown as they seen i was just making a shitty U-Turn, they don't F around, I tried to joke, all the weapons are back in my basement as of this morning, that just pissed them off more because they now need to be more thorough.

thank god my wife was with me, she told the MP's she was raised on more bases than their Commanding Officer heard of and her b.u.b husband (me) is half retarted and completely dumb with his comments about weapons @ a military base.

The security lightened up with just Theresa talking and soon we were on our way, but I said a comment before leaving that pissed em off, 100 go down 50 couples come up!

My wife is my Swiss Army knife, she gets me out of jams for the past 20 years

That’s common sense like not making bomb jokes at an airport. You’re just asking to get a beating. They are not the police, will definitely cover up anything they do to you and you will be in a federal prison if they let you live. People try to rush the gate etc and essentially you have to shoot them. When you’re driving by the gate like that, it’s definitely suspicious. It’s actually better if you drive to the gate, explain you made a mistake and then let them direct you back out.

That 100/50 joke is old as hell. It’s probably more true today than it ever was.

I spent some time stationed at Groton, and your tale here seems so far out of the norm that I question the validity.

Not sure if there was more to the story, but the Groton gate security are generally pretty darn lax. Not to mention, MG is on the same road as the Nautilus museum and tons of tourist traffic is common place.

Not saying it didn't happen, just that there is probably more to the story or you had an EXTREMELY atypical experience.

Yes your right, it is a relaxed base it's no Norfolk that's for sure, it's after the museum but separate, I 100% (messed up) driving suspiciously in a black crew cab truck with dark tinted windows, and did a bad 3 point turn at the gate not to get on the base, security (had to) then ask for my drivers license because I crossed/touched the line.

I made the dumb weapon comment when they asked if I have anything in the truck.

Just relax, I now realize your a very serious person

Now your calling bullshit on me because I recommend the museum from a new WW2 movie post and added my experience at the gate (that I admittedly created, the security was just doing their job)

Your also the same person that thinks im a bad parent because I flew to Kansas City just to eat bbq and get my son temporary residency for a learners permit (early teen age) they allow 12 months younger than most states

Your very attracted to me

Super excited for this. My grandfather was a Captain on a Naval Destroyer (USS Thompson) which was part of the D-Day campaign and eventually became a minesweeper later in the war. He passed away a few years ago, and wouldn't have been interested in this film but I'll certainly be thinking of his perspective when I see it.

She certainly did! My grandfather was aboard from San Diego all the way through its reclassification towards the end of the war.

Way off topic: I got a new x5 last month, my BMW club $1k rebate check just came in, it really feels like free money... 4 weeks from application to check in hand

all are invited to "foxy lady" in RI tonight! including "run silent" drinks are on me, we need to help these college girls pay for school somehow.

Edit: my wife seen my post, we're going to bed bath & beyond and maybe TJ max instead then her mothers house for coffee and pastry
