Rip off Charging point

5 miles from where I live is this charging point

To charge my i3 assuming about 20kWh would be £7.80 ($12) for 70 miles
that's £0.11 per mile vs. home charging at £1.30 or 2p/mile
A typical 2 litre car in the UK would cost less than 10p per mile at today's fuel costs

Stay for over an hour and you'll get a £10 penalty !!!!

How on earth is electric car ownership going to progress with charges like this

Ecotricity charge points are free at present but very thin on the ground in Cornwall

Maybe I am mistaken, but for a DC quick charger that sounds fair. Also the 10 pound charge for staying over an hour also seems fair. Stops cars from being abandoned at the station.

AC or DC same cost if you are not fortunate to have DC rapid charge connection on your i3 one hour (7kWh) would get you 25 miles at a cost of £0.60 Connection + £2.10 for kWh

I would like to think that when more are installed competition will force the cost down

Chargenow was £20 a year with many charging points free but now a monthly subscription of I think £6.95 which has brought kWh cost down to less than std household tariff (free to 9p/kWh) these are mostly 7kW outlets but a few 50kW rapids the nearer you get to London. If I traveled more I would renew but only used it twice in 6 months

Ecotricity all free

Yes Cornwall is not looking to support EVs - all but one point is SSE prices.
I do know the Scarlet Hotel has free charging and is adding a newer type 2 charger in January. So tourists beware Cornwall is set to rip you off!

The US EPA state the i3 (BEV) does 220 MPG (equivalent) so the cost for fuel should be around £1.50 per charge - which is approx what a home charge is. So anything over that is RIPOFF prices!!

Battery cars are finished until petrol doubles in price and it doesn't look like this is happening for a long time. At least prices will drop heaps for second hand i3's and New Zealand is seeing Japanese i3's being important at 40% less than new retail i3's.

There is no savings at all buying an i3 you would be better off with a petrol BMW.

I'm sure most i3 buyers don't buy for cost savings at £0.02 / miles vs. £0.12 / mile it would take 100,000 miles to save the £10k extra you pay for the i3 and thats assuming the batteries last that long.

I bought it for its tech and great fun to drive

Same for the i8 arriving soon at half the cost I could get a car equally as quick
