What's a good % off MSRP for an i3 REX?

After a couple of calls, I've got one at 5.7% and one at 4% off MSRP, before the December discounts. Both tell me that's just a little over invoice. My target is closer to 10% because that's what I keep reading.

Comments appreciated!

Well I know back in late 2014 and early 2015 Bmw was helping the dealers with the bigger discounts.

Not sure if that's still the case as they pulled back on production coming in the USA. The average I see now is about 2 to 5 k off msrp depending on price. 2k on base and 5k on fully loaded. and that seems to keep them moving from what my dealer tells me.

You are asking the wrong question.

The right ones would go roughly in the following order:
1). What is the dealer invoice price (cost) for the car I'm thinking of buying?
2). What discounts is BMW NA offering that drops dealer cost below invoice ($7.5K pass-through Fed rebate, promotions, etc, etc)?
3). How much over dealer cost should I pay (answer $500-$1K at most, since there are some back-end BMW NA dealer kick-backs that increase their profit even further)?

I had researched #s for (1), but they are old and based on MY'14 pricing.
Search the archives/internet for current MY'16 Invoice and MSRP price points.

FWIW, I was at invoice + $500 on my car (~$11K of ~$47K MSRP i3).
In reality, dealer made more than $500 on me, but back-end kick-backs are harder to track down.

a

P.S.: On MY'14 cars, MSRP to Invoice gap was 8% on base car, varied (from 7% to 14.3%) across various options.

OP - I recognize your frustration with local dealers. Give bmw Portland a try - David Padgalskas has been fantastic to deal with after I was done w all local BS. Good luck!

Don't take anything less than 15% off MSRP after all incentive (beside the Federal 7.5k)

Thanks for the recommendation. You're the second person to mention Portland and a Portland rep also commented on my FB post in the i3 group.

Yea I wasn't able to steal mine either as it was custom to my wants. If it was off the lot they where willing to negotiate more off, oh well.

In the end a few more grand off wasn't worth not getting what I wanted. If I'm going to spend good money I'm getting exactly what i want.

Was still able to get 7k off msrp before the 7500 from the gov and 4K from the state.

18.5k off for a brand new car that's new to the market is crazy cool! Makes the i3 the same price as buying a new well optioned Mini Cooper lol !!!!

Hey Paul! This is Eric from the FB group. As mentioned, I'm our BMW Genius at BMW Portland. Feel free to shoot me an email if you haven't found an i3 locally just yet. Edevier@BMWPortland dot com

Thanks for reaching out again. The i3 is still on my radar... I'm in the last stages of investigating various used cars (X1s, MINIs). Today I left my phone at home by accident, so no calls out
