Last time I went in for a service and software update (about a month ago), I could have sworn the battery symbol used to be one battery and it's now showing 3 batteries stacked.
Or is it just me?

And a quick internet search shows the old battery symbol for the main battery looked like one battery with multiple cells and the new one looks like 3 12v car batteries!

Don't know what it was like before, but the owners manual for my 2019 car clearly indicates multiple batteries to represent the high voltage battery, which consists of multiple battery cells.

Thanks for the replies everyone.
I guess my internet search skills really suck!
I tried looking and could only find the old symbol.
Well, good to know that the new stacked symbols don't mean anything ominous!

Just means you're on the current software (for now).

Looking at pics of the 'old' symbol, it does look a little like a radiator, wonder if people might be getting confused by it!

Same here - pre software update was a single battery and post three stacked batteries.

Yes, your head unit will malfunction!
Lol
The software update resulted in a hardware malfunction for me.
I know, it was just a coincidence.........

I wish I never did.
Tuesday is the service date for the new head unit.
Let's see if that solves the problem.

I've just had the software update and I could swear that the ride feels firmer in comfort mode. Anyone else thought this? Of course it could just be that I had a 7 series as a loaner for the few days it was in which was super cushy!

Interesting, I wonder whether its something they learned in developing the facelift model? Took it out for a run today and gave it some stick in sport mode, handling and steering felt great, possibly also a change on before, again hard to tell as I've not driven it hard in good conditions since last summer, so could just be perception.

Anyway of finding out exactly what the software update adjusts?

Software does not alter the handling or steering.

It's probably just warmer temps, resulting in more grip. Plus tyre pressures as mentioned above. Sport mode itself improves the handling a lot, through AWD and firmer damping and (feel) steering.

Software could alter both the suspension and steering, both are electronically managed and therefore potentially could be re-programmed. And yes I do realise what sport mode does

Despite the head unit issue I had (which did resolve), I too thought the car felt better in terms of suspension and performance.
No idea if there really was any real reason for that though.
I remember in the past (way past), feeling my car felt better after oil changes as well!

Now that the winter is over, and the car is back on the road...man it sure feels great!
