Personally I think it's really cheesy 🧀 and way too feminine. I'm sure women would like it, and I feel a woman designed it, but the question is who okayed it? But to me a car/vehicle should be unisex in interior tactile feel.

Personally I think all the plastic crystals 💎 controls are super tacky and way too blingy, I could see that design element utilized in a concept SAV, but not on a production model.
The have a crystal shifter on the 8. There is a bulletin to replace with a standard shifter if the customer wants because it is annoying as fuck when the sun hits it.
A bulletin, now that's beyond funny 😆!

What is a glass crystal when light hits it, it turns into a prism 🌈. That reminds me of the polished and glossy wood dashboard trim with their blinding 🕶 glare ✨.

That says it all! My point exactly!!!

As a Creative Director & Designer myself there's nothing worse than seeing poorly executed and designed products.

You got to wonder if these artsy fartsy Designers and yes men or women ever actually properly drive or detail their own cars. I doubt that they do.

I guess the G80 M3 is no longer the ugliest BMW, that honor goes to this piece of work, perhaps the ugliest car on the road today.

Your response is both tired and overly regurgitated. No, I do not work for BMW. Admiring their willingness to push forward despite criticism(s) does not make me a shill. I would admire any business or person willing to carve their own path as they see fit, embracing criticism in the process.

Well, let us look at the numbers (who are available) and compare.
The cars who is in the IX class is the e-tron, EQC, the i-pace and the TMX.
That's the natural competition, you can ad the ID4 and Enyaq as well.
But the VW SW is a joke at this stage!

Compare range, looks, features and what not, what do you see then?
The kidney's, the look?
I miss a more balanced view on the EV industry, what is available and what can be done, BMW is not Tesla, they are trying to do their own thing.

I happen to think the IX is the right car at the ringt time.

The IX needed the 5G, which is rolling out these days, which will ensure AD and is a given in a modern EV these days.
The interiour is not BMW, but BMW i, it has the i3 DNA, spacious, modern, new materials, and a less is more approach.
The packaging in modern cars is cramped, tight and boring. The EV makes a modern car smarter, more refined.

But yes, i'm flawed since i live in Norway, what i mean by that - is that last month 80% of all new cars had a plug socket.
Still, beeing on my second i3, the IX is a logic step towards the future for BMW and the future for the car industry.

Have you now compared the numbers, what did you see, comparing the competition to the IX?
The gorgeous TMX with it's range and sub par Q?
The E-tron and it's mediocre range and weight?
The Jag is plenty fast, but it looks weird and the range..?
The MB solution then, decent but next to the techy IX it's allready old and outdated.
I3 is a great start from BMW i, the IX3 is half baked RWD solution, the IX is a more balanced modern and exciting EV.
Agree - if we look passed the design, the iX looks way more thought out than the iX3 - honestly what were they thinking with the iX3? RWD and not even fast?

Regarding the iX is the iDrive (8?) going to be iX / i4 exclusive or is this the next gen?

I thought BMW was showing us a cutaway of the seat's construction. Imagine my disgust when I realized those are finished seats!

Was the i3 really a failure though? Consider amount of years in production, numbers of units sold and other comparable cars in competition. It's not 3 Series success but it's also not 3 Series Touring "failure". :

I don't care if it has a 1000 mile range and goes 0 to 60 in 1 second - if I don't want to look back at it as I am walking away from it, I don't want it.

I don't want this.

Your not fooling anyone that these simple designs are more "green" BMW.

The front has the opposite problem: LOOK AT ME....is this what new BMW owners are looking for, simple boring interior's with overly exaggerated loud exteriors?
I agree. It's nice but missing that aggressive edge. I grew tired of my XC90's clean and simplistic interior finish after the first year. My X7 with MSport was a welcome change both in exterior and interior styling.

Fantastic that this new platform is coming to market in the near future!

It is not plastic, it is made of real glass/crystal.

I have glass control in my X5 and I love it.
I would definitely order it for my next BMW.

So, a year from now there are likely to be two more new iX-size dedicated-platform EV's: The M-B EQS and the Lucid Air. The announced price and battery size of the Lucid puts it about the same as the iX, but with close to 400 mi range being touted. These will be the benchmarks that the iX will be judged against. The e-Tron is hampered by range though it's the same size as the iX and presumably the same price. 2022 is gonna be a very interesting year for BMW.

The i3 is an EV that I actually find fun to drive. I still enjoy my M3 and I'm shopping for a Porsche and a big SUV. I don't think you have to stick with one type of car if that's what you are saying.

Designed by robots, for robots. Soulless piece of industrial design that energetically conveys the feel of an appliance that it is. It is f$&@inf sh.t of a design.

And before the whole thing of getting in with the times, I actually like the i3 because it does a lot with a small package. This Minivan iX is massive, heavy and slow, and utterly wasteful. Hope the one guy on BMW board who keeps thinking this looks good is happy with what he has done to BMW design.

The interior looks very clean and - cheap to make. Think thats the goal (margin above all else). But why cant they make a beautiful car? With the floor architecture the choices are endless... i just dont get it. EV doesnt need to be ugly.

It could be based on its selling pricing. No one payed $56K for an i3. Most leased it because it could be had for $300/month.

I loved mine. But it was a $30K-$40K car, Max. Only reason I got it was because I was paying $228 for it.
