The M50 I test drove a couple of weeks ago was Tanzanite, it’s lovely in the showroom under the lights, but out in the rain in Sheffield it looked a bit dull to be honest - like the weather. I think it’s definitely a colour for the summer when the sun will catch it.

I really love this colour. But, clean, polished and protected is a must. Swirls ruin it quickly.
Not a colour for a family man.
Though, if I had time to machine polish it at least yearly and an extra £1k going spare this would be my choice also.

I had a diamond black E30 and a techno violet E36 so I'm not new to colors that are hard to keep looking good.

I do have a son that use to be a professional detailer so I could have it looking it’s best but as per usual getting him to do anything for me is possible. LOL

This is the link to my Instagram of a 14yr old Z4M coupe he did that haven’t been polished ever.

Test drove one of the BMW UK i4 M50 a couple of weeks ago. It was more or less everything I expected. I was originally going for Dravit Grey but changed to Tanzanite Blue. Production date has come forward best part of a month.

What’s your date? My dealer has been giving me ‘June’ for a few months, but says it could come forward, however I’ve still not been given an exact build or delivery date and when I changed colour a few weeks ago there’s still no build date or VIN number on the System, so I’m unsure how it can be brought forward from a date that doesn’t seem to exist yet?

Beginning to wonder if it’s just a stalling method at the moment as there’s actually no date for me yet.

(Dealer placed order for my car in august 21)

Similar June date stuck at status 047. Been told dates will go back still further because of the wiring harness production dependency in the Ukraine.

Production week was originally 1st week in may - it has come forward to 2nd week in april. I have seen the live BMW production screen for my order showing all this.

Good to hear deliveries might be happening sooner instead of later as have originally been told. I got my charging point installed over the weekend in readiness for when it finally arrived.

P.S. Seen a couple of Tranzanite Blues recently both 4 series and if dirty it isn’t that great but when clean even in these dull winter days it still looks stunning. It’s also class looking at night because when car lights hit it’s panels it just changes from what looks like black at night to glorious metallic blue.

It’s quite simple really - the sales executive logged into the BMW AG production system whilst I was sat next to him (it is an IBM CICS system to my eyes) and brings up the order details. It shows all details of the order together with a production week and production status.

So mine didn't update for ages between 24/02 to 23/03 - it was stuck on status 5000 planned for assembly or whatever it is.

Got an update today that it's in transit now - hopefully arrives in UK next couple weeks.

(i40 edrive portimao blue in case anyone wondering).

Test drove this a couple of weeks ago.
Very impressive but wholly unnecessary so I've ordered the 40.
Hope to have it by Xmas 2023 😳

I do have a 40 demo from tomorrow morning to Saturday evening. Looking forward to it.

I performance is completely nuts on the M50, I’ve reverted to driving in ECO mode. LOL

On the plus side I’m getting between 2.4-2.6KwM. Also starting to get use to the one pedal driving, it’s extremely odd to begin with but in town driving it’s brill.

After test driving the M50; I figured I'd drive mostly in eco mode with sport steering and suspension settings.

If you need the power you can still get it in eco mode.

Driving in sport mode you can lose your license pretty fast. Getting on the freeway during my test drive I got to 110mph without trying.

Coming out of an M5 Competition I already knew accessible performance but even it didn’t give this instantly accessible performance, with it when you floored the throttle you had a few milliseconds for the turbos to spool and the gearbox to react before the brutality of its acceleration happened but with this you need to make sure the car in front and you have a good gap or you pull out before flooring it otherwise you’ll rear ended them. LOL

I reckon even ECO mode has as much performance as the wife’s Mk8 Golf R if not more.

Just checked with my BMW dealer and myi4M50 is on schedule for production in week commencing 11April. Should have it by end April beginning of May. I was originally going for Dravit but changed to Tanzanite after comparing the two colours in real life.

Yeah Dravit and Tranzanite where side by side when I saw the two colours and it was a no brainer from me, though DG is also a stunner when the light hits it.

i4 M50 on order on 111 with June wk 25

First post so bear with me.

Ordered an M50 as a company lease last October. Currently the dealer is saying sat at 111 with wk25 scheduled in June. Portimao Blue, Tech Pack, Tech Plus, Visibility Pack with Tacora Red Leather. Fingers crossed it rolls on to 112 soon.

And for the record, if I could have stretched to the Tanzanite Blue, would have been that.

A lot of regular electricians can install them as the tech isn’t anything special so if you have a regular you use ask them about it, alas you have missed out on the £350 government scheme which ended a short while ago, you should have took advantage before it ended as having a deposit down would have allowed to get it early.
