What's involved with squaring tire setup? Also extended warranties?
Guys I'm officially in production. I've got a few questions.
Has anyone moved from the 245/255 stagger to a squared setup? Any reprogramming we need to worry about on something like that? I won't do it immediately but probably at first tire replacement I will move to a squared 255 setup. Also, anyone done any extended warranty? I'm primarily concerned about the battery/drive unit. Do I purchase when my car arrives or wait till I'm into the warranty period a bit? Any idea on the warranty options for the car?

I have been using squared wheel/tire setups in BMW for the last 15 years, no programming done or required. I just keep the tire circumference within 1.5% of the OEM and no issues found.
Example: my i4 M50 squared setup would be 255/35-20, from OEM 255/35-20 front, 285/30-20 rear. That is 0% difference from OEM front, and -1.1% difference in circumference OEM rear. I can rotate tires and even expect better range with a narrower tire in the rear, without issues with the xDrive system. |

I got the Extended Warranty at the time of pick up the car out of concerns of future price increases. Went for the 7 years.

What do future price increases have to do with the extended warranty? I'd expect cars to get more expensive in the future? Am I misunderstanding what you're saying?

I am talking about price increases on the Extended Warranty. As the car gets older, they charge you more. It cost me $6,000 full coverage/no deductible for 7 years/75K miles. I also got the Extended Maintenance that covers consumables including brakes, brake pads, etc.
I feel that I am covered if I keep the car. If I don't use the Extended Warranty by the time I sell the car, I get a refund. Done that before with another BMW, Porsche, etc.

Reusing the OEM wheels with same tire sizes is not a squared setup.
