roof rack?
OK, call me nuts, but I have toys - windsurfers etc. - that I need to transport, and some trips I would much rather drive in an i8 than my rough 4runner TRD pro. Same problem as my M3 w carbon roof. Zippo availability of roof racks. Anyone found a solution?

Nah... Get a tow hitch and pull a landscape trailer with your toys in it!

I've used a Seasucker to carry two mountain bikes on my previous car (on which there was no real option of a roof rack either). I've still got it and I see no reason why it wouldn't work on the i8 either, but I've not had opportunity to try it yet. Worth a look certainly.

Seasucker is an option. It worked on the M3. But you can drive pretty fast here in TX, and I would prefer a 'more secure' connection.

Sweet video! Bikes are OK; Windsurfers are a different story.
Evidently only safe up to 175mph...

I use a Seasucker for my skis. Not on the roof, though. I fear the finish isn’t smooth enough and air may leak into the suction cups. I put it on the rear decklid. Makes getting into the trunk a bit cumbersome, but it looks cool! ;-) |
