Advice/Opinion on wash and care for i8
I am NOT starting a thread on commercial car wash use. I like to wash my cars myself by hand, and have used various products over the years I have found and like. I washed the i8 today for the first time, and man do you start to appreciate how its put together as you wash and dry all the various panels and areas!
So one product I really like is Zaino Z-2 polish. It gives the car a glass like finish. I have used it on many cars, but have yet to try on carbon fiber. I was wondering if any of you have any experience with this or what do you recommend? BTW their leather conditioner is awesome, it actually smells like leather, sinks in and is completely not shiny (in case you care). Curious to hear what are others doing. |

These cars come with a lot of swirls from the dealer!

I did notice that! I told them NOT to detail mine but they had already done it before they put it on the show floor. I never let a dealer do and pre delivery detailing, they usually just scratch the heck out of the car.
It looks very cool, but I for one am too nervous to "apply" anything to cars. How is the gloss/finish when done? |

I had GardX applied to the exterior and interior of my i8 prior to delivery, by the dealer.
https://www.gardx.co.uk/index.php?pa...parent=1&pid=2 I washed my i8 for the first time last week, and enjoyed doing so. It is a great way to get to know and appreciate the design and curves even more Plus I did a far better job than commercial hand wash places, and used a clean grit-free mitt etc. |

Never let dealers wash your car! I have a pre-printed large sign that says "do not wash this car" in my cars and I display it whenever I have to go to the dealer

The gloss on mine is night and day! The contrast between black and white is much more pronounced and it's a lot easier to clean up too. I use ONR with two bucket system and waffle weave dry towel. 15 minutes and that's it!

Sorry to grave dig an old thread.
Just a quick question on waxing. Am I good to wax the black plastic parts of the car as well? Does it require a certain type of wax? |

Most Wax you'll be safe with. What you want to be careful with is polish and heavier cutting compounds. I don't know if anyone has tried that on the plastic and what kind of results they've achieved, but you can easily leave permanent scratches in the plastic if you use a compound or polish incorrectly.

Any where in the LA area that will do this? Just picked up mines a week ago and already got two car washes, (LA gets dusty as hell) and these hand car wash places suck out here. As soon as i get home here comes the water draining out of all the i8 crevasses.

Does anyone who has the white interior here have any recommendations on which leather cleaner/conditioner to use? I'm starting to see small stains and it's triggering my OCD

INTERIOR CONDITIONER and AMMO LATHER INTERIOR CLEANSER. I understand it is more expensive compared to other products out there, but it works best for me. I have used Chemical Guys leather cleaner and a couple of others and they didn't work as well on my other car. I still do use Chemical Guys products for a variety of other things. |

I personally find myself using a switch between Ammo paste Wax and Chemical Guys Butter wet wax. |

It depends on if your car is light or dark they have specific waxes (I've used their diamond white on a white car before and the results were really good. I used their black widow on my last car which was black and it was amazing!) I actually applied the wax with my bare hands and found it to be the easiest way to get good coverage and it was pretty easy to buff off. They also have a really expensive one for about $2-300 that is supposedly their flagship wax and has the best longest lasting protection. I believe that one is called supernatural |
