The situation remains the same, though the men don't realize they each should have each received $1.66 back. Its just a riddle which speaks to the fact that not all math processes yield the proper results.

it's how the question is worded. They each paid 9 bucks totalling 27, but that 27 includes the 2 bucks the bell boy took, not 27 plus the 2 stolen. Add the 3 bucks they got back and you get 30 bucks.

I guess. Even though they beat us in the Olympic hockey game they can't stand to lose the Stanley Cup to us. Well, SOME people can't.
