2014 White/Frozen Blue PIW with 4731 miles for sale, California
FINALLY SOLD in May 2023 for $68k with aftermarket wheels and a set of stock wheels as well. 5100 miles.
>>>Back on the market, but I'm basically firm on the price of $80k. If the market will bear it, I will sell it. If not, then... I won't https://sfbay.craigslist.org/sby/cto...508554403.html The AC compressor has been replaced with the latest unit from BMW. There was nothing wrong with mine, but... since most 2014 and 2015 i8s and i3s have ones that can fail, and the fix can be as much as $16k as per Pat's Garage Online (when it breaks up internally and sends shards into the battery cooling lines), I had it done for $3300 by BMW. have receipt. Also, rear shocks replaced with latest BMW part number. See the ad if interested. It is nicely kept and has really low miles. Last edited by mws; 05-25-2023 at 08:52 PM.. Reason: back for sale |

Did you take it off the market due to the offers you received or because you reevaluated your decision to sell it to begin with. Feel free to DM me if you prefer. I am asking because I have a 2014 as well and am debating if it is time to sell or trade it in if value is somewhat acceptable…..

Not sure if you decided to keep it or are waiting for a greater price appreciation. For me, I can't seem to part with it, despite its discontinued 3G service (2015 model). There's nothing out there that's quite like it.

I agree, BAT has not been great to them, nor has Cars and Bids. But some of those i8s on those sites might have been trolls. And those auction sites are more for muscle cars and provenance, anyway. The nice thing is, my car is not a troll. It is basically new. I invite anyone to send an inspector to check it out, if you are from out of town. I have a reference on the Jag forum I can hook the potential buyer up with. I sold an F-Type R to him, similar miles and condition, with zero inspection. He just paid for it, the bank deposit cleared, I helped him get a broker for transport, made sure it got on the truck, and he loved it. |

I removed the CL ad. If someone wants to talk to me off-line about the i8, they can PM me. Otherwise, I am not that interested in selling. What I really need to do is throw some time and $$ into building that annex-gym I keep talking about so I can get the gym gear out of the garage and make room for two more cars --and a decent sized workshop. THAT should be the priority.

Surprised at your stated electric range of 10-12 miles. I have a 2015 with 15,000 miles on it and can still get about 20 miles. I took a 17 mile all electric drive last weekend and still had some battery left. Has the range deteriorated since you bought it?

mine is a 2014. So we have the same capacity. I might get 15 miles, if careful, but I don't want to over-advertise in case they care. I don't do much electric-only driving. Maybe I should do more.... Battery was checked out by BMW after I bought it with 1200 miles on it, (but it was a 2014 car when I bought it in Spring of 2021) , and it was not degraded. |

The car has been sold. Thanks for everyone's kind comments and the support of this forum. I was surprised this did not sell quickly as well. BTW: Craigslist, honestly, is the way I end up selling stuff, especially cars. I had it on Cars.com. Crickets. Like not even any bots, they don't even bother.
this is a note I attached to the beginning of the Craigslist ad. I am basically just trying to give the dreamers who want a car with "the doors of a Billionaire" (--Russ Hanneman) but think they are going to buy the car for 2019 prices before they canceled the Vision M and i8 prices when thru the roof. The part about the A/C compressor is something for you early-year guys to think about as well. >>>> This car is sold. I wanted to talk to the Craigslist community about this. Folks I sold this car for asking for $66k with the nice aftermarket wheels, and I threw in the stock ones because he showed me some respect. All it takes is one buyer who knows what you have. I don't mind sharing this because I like giving back to a community that helped me. My advice for i8s. Not all 2014-2016 i8s will have A/C compressors that fail internally and cost you $16k, but it's probably a 5-15% risk. Again, I cannot post videos, because CL blocks them, but look this up on YT: "BMW i8 Air Conditioning compressor problems and costs". My buyer knew what he was getting. The other thing I wanted to say is: sure, the economy is iffy right now, so...I posted this car for the wholesale price a dealer would pay AT AUCTION for this car, which includes fees and shipping on top of that. Then they would sell it to you for even more. Know what you are looking at when you go shopping online. Stop asking people with creampuffs to sell you the car for the price of a 40k mile car. It's embarrassing. There's a huge difference between an accident-free, clean 5000 mile car, and one with 40k miles and no preventative maintenance, possibly cigarette smoke, worn interior, spoiler scrapes, and aftermarket parts. The MMR on a higher miles car is in the $50k range. What follows is the original ad, and good luck with your search. >>> at this point you would be reading the CL ad which will be gone soon. |

BTW: guys, the i8 market in May 2023 is slow as molasses. Crickets. No bots, even, from Craigslist, It's sloooooow. My buyer was watching my car all the way from when I re-listed it at $80k. He fricking held on THAT long....When he saw it again for $66 he got serious. So unless you are willing to dump your car to the deal-searching dreamers, I would hang onto it until it becomes a collectable, like an old 840ci., or even the early 2000 M5s. This is NOT the time to sell. Maybe after the recession, in like 2026 or so. Good luck.
