2021/2022 has carbon core. The IX has carbon core.

The definitely have not abandoned the tech.

What I got out of it was that an EV that doesn't look like it came out of a sci-fi movie isn't a true EV and is doomed to fail. And he complains that the i4 is overweight because it shares a platform with a gas burner, but the iX he gushes about because it's a custom EV platform weighs 700lbs more. Sheesh. And I couldn't believe how many words he devoted to the Hans Zimmer soundtrack. Seems to be the only thing he truly likes about the i4.

What about people stuck renting, and only have a standard 115V A/C in their garage? How is the charging on that? If I drive 15-20 miles to work each day, and then back, is it going to fully charge overnight?

Seriously considering trading my 2015 M4 on one of these, but charging is an issue.

The 115VAC charges 3-4 miles per hour. The range depends how eco your driving is. So 10 hours will give you about 30-40 miles of range.

You get free electrify America DC charging for two 2 years, just 10-15 minutes of charge will give you about 90-100 miles of range.

I thought this was a good, honest assessment from an old school motor head on the possibility of moving to an EV.

There are a lot of free level 2 chargers around (garages, grocery stores, malls, gyms, etc.) that will get you around 20 miles of range per hour, so depending on your normal routine for shopping and dining, free level 2 + level 1 at home could be a decent solution, only having to use level 3 when traveling or in a pinch.

That's good because the closest EA charging station to me is 10 miles away. Next one? 74 miles away to the north. After that? 105 miles east.
I'm sure the 2 years free subscription will end up being worthless to me.

You'll use it once in a while, you'll see. But I agree, 95% or my charging would be at home.
