Who is turning off their phones before 220pm EST tomorrow?

So what's the big deal with this alert thing? Do you guys not typically get regional amber alerts or disaster alerts pushed to the phone?

on a more serious note, its prob good to have something like this tested so incase heaven forbid something serious happens the carriers know it works etc..

Amber alerts... I get it and they work, but man do they always manage to come at the worst time. Middle of a meeting and everyones phone suddenly starts screaming...

My issue with them is once you frantically acknowledge the alert to get the noise to stop I can't seem to find any way to go back and look at it to see what it actually said, and the online alert site never seems to be updated.

Exactly! Your first instinct is to make the noise stop in any way - but then you can't go back and read it once you clear it. Seems kinda poorly designed.

I'll try and hold out today and see if I can figure it out. Seems like it should come with a text message. Maybe it will

Same... it has been some time since the last one (or maybe I disabled them successfully). But they often seemed to strike in the middle of the night a couple years back, not a single word was read.

I turned mine off after the first time that shit went off. I think it was in the middle of the night or something. I actually have all my alerts turned off so I'd be curious if I'll get it.

On an even more serious note, a national EAS test publicized months in advance and with both media and conspiracy theories advising everyone to turn off their only means of receiving alerts seems like a prime opportunity for some miscreants to launch a nuclear attack on an unaware population. Just saying.

Personally, I'll take my chances on becoming a 5G zombie.....

So it did indeed override the vibrate-only mode, but it did not affect my Apple Watch. That's odd. Maybe I have some setting turned off.

Wifey's phone is set the same way as mine. All alerts on except for test alerts. Yet I still got the alert and she did not.

Wifes work phone got it but it didnt override silent.

My phone got it after coming back on, guess will still get it up to 30min after sent if device was off. All my alerts were off. Also I got both spanish and english, which isn't supposed to happen.

Buddy none of his devices got it after coming back on. One device that was on, no sim or wifi somehow got it.

My wifi phone didn't get it.

Sounds like a successful govt test.... I think they follow the 60% rule not 80%.

For all the conspiracy theorists out there worried about this test, it's too late! If you could put a network analyzer on your devices, you'd be utterly shocked to see just how much data is coming and going from them 24x7. Turning the device off isn't going to matter either since there are ways to wake it up remotely and you'd never even know.
