How is this a bad thing.

Z4M was a bmw parts bin car and it was amazing.

Toyota can only benefit. Let's not forget Toyota also created great go fast cars like LF-A, celica GT-four, etc.

Let's see how this car does before we condemn it.

B/c it's a yota not a BMW & the last Supra is quite the legend. It all adds up to be big let down.

Sounds like the perspective of someone who is more of a Supra fan than a fan of BMW vehicles. Personally I have no great affection for any Supra, so the more this one becomes a Z4 coupe the better!

I'm a fan of cars, not a fanboy for any badge.

Then why are you complaining that a car with a Supra badge is really a parts bin BMW?

If it ends up being a good car, who cares what the badge is or where the parts come from... right? Wouldn't that be a "fan of cars"? AKA not a fanboy or a badge whore.

I took this pic on 06/14/14 when the FT-1 Concept (not the Supra) was at cars and coffee

What a cool and relevant car the Supra would be if they hadn't let the suits get involved and tone it down from the original concept. Instead we have a mundane, larger version of the FR-S that's going to be mediocre.

Yup, and this one also has a roll cage in it.

On another note the vent now appears to be functional.

Hence why (among other reasons) the FT-1 was never going to make it to production as designed, at least not at this price-point.

Yup, A70TTR said if they reskinned the Lexus LC to look like the FT1 that the cost would put it in the $100k+ range.

So far I think they did a decent job incorporating the design cue from the FT1 onto a Z4 platform. I still wish they would have kept more elements like the see though hood, mirrors, and active wing.

I feel the supra is going to be just like the NSX. Slow to market, underwhelming, over priced, uncompetitive, and doesn't live up to the last generation. Even worse this time around is loss of identity. Is it a BMW? At least the nsx was 100% Honda.

Then what happens next is severely discounted cars just like the nsx (looking at ~$70k cad off on new 17s) which will maybe finally be appreciated 10 years down the road. I really looked forward to this car... like 4 years ago when the FT-1 concept was out.

Its BMW parts that why is bad, there is no benefit to those. Supra owners are used to a cretin bulletproof reliability that no BMW remotely comes close to.

Those ares are legendary cars and were designed and built by Toyota, not some parts bin embarrassment.

Could have been tamed down a bit and still make sense but this thing is no FT1 or Supra or toyota for that matter.

Hilariously enough these days previous and actual Supra owners could easily drop 100k for a Proper new Supra. But the idiots decide to build some bmw parts been hair dressers joke and totally shit on the Supra name and its fans, in hope of what lol the fast and furious crowed buy em?

Sales tag lines will be hilarious.

For the makers of the legendary bulletproof 2jzgte, we give you an unreliable bmw parts been motor"

The only feature of this Bimmer Supra I’m really digging is the new passenger ejector button. This is likely the only standout feature of the car on today’s market...
