Anyone can make a practical car fast by throwing hp at it. M, AMG, Audi RS all do it in a similarly monotonous formula that is not very exciting but they are fast. Clinical, but fast.
Making a car, whether faster or slower with emotion and one that tingles the sense is much harder. Porsche does that even with a base 911 and only ups the ante with the turbo and yet again with the GT cars.
This new GT3 does what it seems Porsche always does. They take a platform that was the King of cars and puts its crown right back on the new one. Just imagine what the RS will be like.

There isn't much like the sound of a GT3 at 9k RPM....the one I had was by far the most fun car I've ever driven. The entire experience is just unbelievably incredible. I'm going to need to get another one once the market cools down, the recent sales prices have been nuts.

Agreed. Very few cars sound as good no matter the price point. Also don’t know how they get it to sound so good with OPF filters...

I've been watching all the GT3 videos and the first half of the Leno was very good. Car seems pretty good on the street, and other channels were saying (at least in Europe) on the road it was not good, too stiff.

Wonder why they didn't put the car up on the Stertil Koni lift ? wonder if Porsche nixed that

As a non Porsche owner, The most annoying part about getting into the brand is that you can never drive one.

The salesman don't make it easy to get into a car, mostly because they don't have any available recently bc of inventory shortages, but besides that, if you want a car like a Cayman GTS it's special order and just hope you like it.

I understand not having a car around but I haven't encountered stellar customer service either where they try to work with you to figure out a good used car to try out that will at least give you some idea about what to expect. Maybe Porsche is becoming a bit more pretentious then it used to be.

This trend was something I noticed pre-covid, btw.

For cars like like the GT3 / GT3RS (really every model) Porsche has track time school in Atlanta.

I've been trying to buy GT3 for 5 years and what has turned me away each and every time as been the sales experience. Between trying to sell me a 1500 mile used GT3RS for 320k in late 2016 to literally no one returning a calls or emails. I get it that its a hot item, but everyday wont be like today. I won't forget the ones that didn't call me back or take 5 minutes to return an email. I will never step foot in your dealerships for life.

That being said I did meet my future Porsche SA on this forum. The first one that answered my questions and gave me no BS.

Thank you, I never even considered that. Didn't think those actually worked.

I'm on Rennlist and the WTB threads do actually work. Lots of people on there with good connections and very helpful.

Just give everyone your exact wants/needs to get you exactly what you're looking for.

I’ve actually bought my last two cars from people that didn’t even have them listed for sale. There are some gems out there and a lot of sellers don’t want to deal with the tire kickers.

I appreciate the feedback as I never even considered this. I see those ads on rennlist and just never thought twice about it.

similar numbers to the previous gen GT3RS. as expected. tried to compare to a regular gt3 but C&D tester car was fitted with steel brakes and sofa seats adding weight.

glad to see weight under 3300.

here's a very unofficial test of acceleration between the old gt3 and new one. downforce is not without its drawbacks. but we're splitting hairs here.

waiting to see some lap times!

Absolutely no ifs, ands, or buts about it, there is not a single other manufacturer on the planet that could make a car with the same power levels of the 911, in this case, the GT3 and match them for straight line or track times - and it not even close. Most 600-700 hp cars have a hard time making numbers on or off track this good. That is blisteringly fast, and the sub 7 min Ring time tells you its track capability is even better.

I said it elsewhere, only Porsche can top themselves.

I used to be the first person to bust out and happily combat this type of statement but, after a variety of seat time in 911s, especially GT3s, on track and off - this is the truth.

There really is no substitute.

TBH to me, GT3 0-60 is borderline irrelevant.

I quite like these two idiots, they're quite fun.

Nice car but jesus H it looks big...just...so...BIG. Is it though, th ebest engine int he world? Like would you seriously want another engine over this accounting for size and weight?
