Why No Money/Investment Forum?

Like the title state I am wondering why there is no forum discussing money and investing. Is it because the stereotypical BMW owner comes from a wealthy family and doesn't worry about money?

I'm wondering what other forum members savings and investment strategies are like. I'm also wondering how your BMW fits into this.

I invest heavily with my work sponsored 403b and a little on the side.
I'm doing great but wondering if I should look into a financial advisor.

Well, it's because, typically you don't go to a car forum looking for financial advice.

There are several threads on the topic already. However you are correct in assuming everyone in here is too rich to care about such things. We have more pressing issues like what color to paint or penis shaped rockets we shall be taking off this peasant rock.

I spend much of my day agonizing over which variety of Grey Poupon to use, leaving little time for such pedestrian occupations as investing. I have people for that, dear.

I'm surprised "The Big Unit" is coming to a car forum to discuss money. Don't you have people for that?

I doubt that the forum owners want anything to do with offering a platform for discussing finances, since it is a regulated business and they would probably be on the hook for any advice given that results in a loss.....

Two reasons:

1) this is a car forum, not an investment forum
2) most members likely have wealth managers

Do Warren Buffett's 15-minute Retirement Plan.

https://www.fool.com/investing/gener...ment-plan.aspx

And take it from someone that had a financial advisor from 1998 to 2013, no, you don't need one if you're working with a portfolio of less than 5M and you keep things simple (see 15-minute Retirement Plan above on how to keep it simple).

I use Vanguard for my brokerage account, two Roth IRAs, traditional IRA (converted from a former 401K), and my kid's two 529 college accounts. It sounds like a lot to manage, but it isn't at all. Basically my portfolio trajectory follows the DOW and the accounts largely manage themselves.

Apply that logic to dolling out repair advice, and How-To's.

Now based on the stereotype, I really don't belong here. I am a very large square peg.
Thing is though I look up to those who are in a better situation than I in hopes that one day I'll be there. I try to take their advice when it's within reason and my means. I have always looked at the internet as a fantastic learning tool and mentorship tool, again within reason. The problem over the years (since the mid/late 90's for myself) is that the information and learning aspect has been overrun with escapism; people who are trying to pose as something they really are not but passing it off as truth. So over the years the trustworthiness of people has diminished. Unfortunately. But I still believe in my utopian views and do, for the most part, try to stick to them and be as honest as I know how to be. In many of the O/T stuff I read the majority seem to be of the escapism mindset. It's in that majority as to why a forum subsection that gives out (assumed) useful financial advice would not last long. There seems to be a majority that are just here to pass time and let their keyboard puke onto a screen.
It also seems to be forgot that the O/T forum is a culmination of all the Bimmerpost sites. Us poor 1 series owners are mingling with M6 owners and there is a very large income gap that comes with that. But my feeling of mentorship still stands, if you can find people willing to do such a thing.

Because we drive BMWs without saying we drive BMWs

And M5Rick has the fastest M5 in the forums.

Well said. One of the reasons I enjoy this little slice of the internet is due to the wage gap and the variety of personalities that come with it. We all learn from watching/paying attention to & talking with others. We incorporate what we find endearing in others into our own lives. Some of us are here to learn, some of us - just to kill time. I feel like I do a great deal of both, but mostly I learn more about who I am......and how poor I really am.

One of the things you'll learn if you haven't already is the type of vehicle you drive does not correlate to the wealth of the individual. I know plenty of people that drive better cars than me but I "trump" them in overall net worth. It took me decades to finally spoil myself with getting my lowly 1 series BMW. Prior to that, I drove nothing but econoboxes.

If one were to use a house as measurement of wealth, driving through the McLean/Great Falls area in VA will show you how F you money works. While I do see Ferrari's and such parked in open garages when I drive along Rt 193, many of them will have a Prius or similar car parked in their driveway.

I think the typical BMW "owner" actually leases the vehicle, and with how affordable that is I am not sure I would want financial advise from most strangers on here. There are a few exceptions.
