Tierneyalvin this might be presumptuous, but did you consider buying out the lease yourself and selling the car to CarMax? I'm guessing you have about $80K left to buyout your lease? You can probably get $70K from CarMax, and then you'd be out of this car.
On a side note, what car is now going to be your daily driver? Your profile says Model Y. I'd be seriously curious what your decision-making process was around that? |

Darn. You are correct. Sorry I forgot about taxes. If you are in So Cal like me it would be ~9%. So that’s another $7.2K. Tricky situation. I’m sorry about the situation. Best of luck to you.

I believe you are allowed to resell within 7 days and then not pay sales tax in California. Obviously verify this yourself, but I have done this in the past with an Audi lease and did not pay sales tax on the transaction.
