That and probably build quality. On an excel spread sheet the numbers aren't all that great.

Problem is when BMW rolls out the electric Mini Cooper I wonder if it will drive circles around it!
It was pretty cool the first go around.

Why would you come into a thread about the i3 full of i3 owners just to trash the whole EV concept? That's like walking by a sandbox and deciding to kick sand in the faces of the kids playing in it.

Will i3s engine go to the i8

I am an i8 owner and It will be really nice if BMW can upgrade the electric engine of the i8 - 181 and 257 can really convince me to trade in and upgrade to the new i8. Power wise stage 1 Essing ECU 51 + 181 + 257 = 489 HP
With the i8 weight this will be serious power!!!

It is still a hideous looking car to me. They should've used a regular series body (2, 3, or X1) from the beginning.

The worst rating is "Poor," yet it received "Good," on most tests. And, on the test shown in this video, it received a "Good" -- the highest rating. "(T)he driver's survival space was maintained very well." That's "brutal?" Thanks for the misleading post, though!

One of the most innovative cars on the planet regardless of what you might think of it. You'd have to sit in it and drive it to even begin to understand.

Haters will hate.

Let's have a show of hands here ( and please be honest ) who here actually owns an i3 ? Drives one at will and has any ownership of one whether bought or leased ? Then, those folks can easily testify to the cars coolness and abilities I for one do own one and love it. Not a single complaint. It's weird looking it's off styling and Star Trek like features including lighting interior and exterior are simply unique and for that reason alone set it apart from all other cars not only EV types.

Like so many things in life :

don't knock it until you try it

at least.

Random observation: The color scheme on the i3 really highlights how the dark blues can look very black and change dramatically depending on light conditions.

I love my 2017 Rex. Had been wanting one since they first released but I was still getting comfy with my 2011 Volt. Six years later and 40% increase in i3 battery capacity, now was the time..

Much better vehicle all in all and will be in my garage for a pretty good while.

Wrong! Not the best but far from the worst.

Try to not spread wrong data and read a little.

It actually did better than the model S in spots.

It scored high in all but one area.

15,000 words. When 8 pictures with arrows pointing out the differences (primarily a two tone paint job for the "s") would have been sufficient.

BMW - leader in technology? No, leader in bloviation.

{Yawn}

"bestselling compact battery-electric vehicle in the premium compact segment worldwide since it was launched in 2014"

An amazingly contrived statistic to eliminate Tesla from the "numbers".

- Tesla doesn't make a "premium compact" unless maybe the Model 3 qualifies and THEN you have to take into account all vehicles sold since 2014 (and the Model 3 is very new)...
