I'm 22, I don't have nearly the resources you guys have, but I'm doing very well for my age and hope to keep it going. I merely suggested that if a person could spend $140,000 on a car (Not with the background that they are worth $10M+ and could buy many cars, mind you), I thought many more would choose the competitor in this thread, the 911.

For some reason, that awfully offended some people. I had to play along and have some fun with what I assume are older frustrated owners who wish to justify their purchase. That's fair enough. Although if someone wants to call the 335is an overpriced 'wannabe' M3, I'll be happy to defend my choice too!

Cheers.
Sincerely thank you for an honest response. I didn't call the 335 a wannabe M3. I have always enjoyed special cars for their unique character, when I was your age and now. It is NOT about the price. It's about the experience. In some ways one of the most fun cars I've had was a 2003 MR2 spyder with SMG and a four cylinder (I think it was $24k new).

I think there are two kinds of i8 owners: some do get it and discuss the price, but some of us really appreciate it for what it is. It's hard to describe, I hope you get a chance to drive one, it really is different than most cars. And none if that is because of its price. I would say it's the first "software defined car" or "video game car." It's a shame because of its steep price a lot if younger people won't get to experience it first hand. In some ways they will "get it" more than some "geezers."

Ah a successful 22 years old M3 wannabe hanging with geezers. We're flattered and I'm sure you didn't offend anyone, you're just providing entertainment for us. None of us need to justify our purchases but jeez louis, please upgrade to the M3. I had an E46 and loved it.

Tuning 335's will prematurely put you in the LIMP mode too often

... And now an X5? True car expert here. Thinks getting a SuburbiaUV equals growing out of teenager hot hatches. Y'all listen up, i8 owners, you've been had and Qbix The Wise has discovered it.

How old are you, then? I'm 42, and owned my first Porsche at age 32. Call me a geezer if you wish.

77 average mpg over 3'000+ miles of ownership. To do that in your X5, you need to have it pulled by actual horses. And if you actually care about mileage, why'd you get an SUV with all that dead weight and the wind resistance of a spinnaker?

Sounds like someone who's been equally gullible to the "sports utility" BS. Or did your wife just make you buy it?

You're dead wrong - This is not the case the battery can last for many laps also be advised in Sport mode its putting the energy back in the battery any time you're off full throttle.

Please report it to BMW.

When I told them, and even sent them a screenshot, they said it was only my app/iPhone that was doing it. Their own i8 cars were showing up as i8 on the app. They even showed me a screenshot.

Not everyone is affected.

I've reported that i3 glitch and also that my i App crashes every freaking day and I have to re-sign in. Every freaking day.

BMW i Concierge doesn't care.

I have same exact issue, says i3 and needs constant re-log in (didn't before).

I'll see if there is a way to report to app developers.

And don't forget the random switching to metric from English units.

I took my i8 on a couple of hotlaps with 1mile left to go on the charge, and it was almost full charge when I was done.
