Agree - it's 2020, everything has a receipt. I do all my maintenance, and I have a folder of all part/oil/consumable orders & receipts from vendors.
Even if you don't have the physical receipts, unless he purchased the parts from the dealer, all the online companies I've used like ECS or FCP Euro have my purchase history.

@ScottSinger if this is an AMG from the past 7 years or so, the rear electric parking brake can be retracted by the owner without a separate computer system. It’s a series of key presses on the steering wheel. The front pads are completely mechanical and require no electronic interaction.
It's a 2012 AMG c63 black series. I wanted something that is more analog, with not a whole lot of tech to deal with as I'm planning to keep it for along time. Something that is rare enough that it will hold its value better than most of my other cars I've owned in the past. The car won't be my only vehicle so the millage will likely be around 5k miles per year at the most. I have a local shop that works on my e93 and will be taking care of this car.
We actually wrapped up the deal on Friday and the car is now sitting in my garage. I will do a proper post with full pictures once I've had the chance to get it detailed and clear bra.

looking forward to the pictures
Ive had two c-classes a W202 and W203 both small engined but nicely optioned.
Wanted to keep my W202 forever but it was rear ended and totaled.
When I asked about a rare $85,000 Mercedes I was thinking the CLK Black Series (SL Black series) but knew those were extremely expensive and rare. I didn't think about C63 Black series package. It's the 2 door ? That is insane !

When purchasing a car remotely, it's essential you have the car checked out, and it must be a place you choose, not one the seller selected. Ideally they would also be able to check for paint/bodywork issues since Carfax is only as good as what is reported. The stories I could tell of unreported damage ...

I purchased my car from a private seller in Ohio, and I have documented here on the forum how I found a local BMW shop for the PPI that had good ratings. I called spoke to the head guy and from the way he answered my questions I knew the shop understood BMW's and what issues to look for in an E90.

The seller agreed to take it there, and the car passed with flying colors.

At any point the seller could have balked, could have told me he had a another buyer, but within a week everything we agreed to happened and I rented a car and drove to Ohio and picked up the car.

As others have said, you cannot get this car without a PPI from a place that you choose, and if the seller gives you any pushback at all, you must run, not walk away from the car.

Good luck!

I'd also asked about passing safety and emission for his state. He let me know that his state (NJ) requires bringing in your license, insurance, and registration for annual inspections. The registration is renewed by mail, and due to Covid, he hasn't received the registration back yet so the car is not currently passing state inspection/emission or up to date on it.

Whoops I am a bit late to this post ... congrats on getting the car! For future reference, what local shop do you use for your E93?

Petlizard Congratulations! Looking forward to some photos once you're happy with the detailing. If you haven't already, join mbworld. Have the cylinder head bolts been done on the engine? It should be a fun car.

Head bolts issues were addressed by MB by mid model year of 2011 (switched to a newer and stronger design). Any engine numbers with later serial than 060658 are good in that regard.

I was not familiar with this car, but a quick search showed that C&D loves it and in their review it has some of the most hilarious lines I have ever read in the description of ANY car:

…and You’ll Love It

Mercedes says the package can lap the Nürburgring in 7:43. It looks like undiluted mayhem or maybe the result of a bad accident involving a race shop and Satan’s school bus. If you don’t love it, have the nurse wake you from your coma. In our short lapping session, the C63 did absolutely nothing wrong. The steering feel is better than that of any Mercedes in recent memory, hefty and with just the right amount of meaty, big-car feedback. The engine pulls like blazes, with torque everywhere and a righteous, gut-punching thunder bark gushing from the pipes. The brake pedal is rock solid, gaining only a hair of travel when the discs get hot.

Well done and congrats!

Thanks for the article. I have not sen that before. I'd spent the last few days getting to know the car and going over any imperfections with the cosmetic stuff (this is matte paint will be interesting to work with). My plan will be to have it looked at by my shop next week, then off to get PPF. I can then finally get some proper photos, but here's how it's sitting in the garage now.

Beautiful car no question; with the wing it looks very aggressive but the matte silver kind of hides the true beast that it is.

With less then 100 sold in America, you really uncovered a rare gem, I would argue it's at unicorn status ... congrats!

C63 black series??

I wrote that before going to the second page as the value and rate seemed to line up conceptually for me when I heard that description.

Thanks. And yes, I was lucky to come across this car as these have been selling the moment they hit the market, at or above asking price. This is a keeper.

Nice. Now get it satin-wrapped. Those cars were made for it. Then it will be "black".

Love Randy Pobst and his "hot lap" reviews, and he can't stop smiling via 2012 M-B C63 Black Series

Note: The car came in 2nd to Porsche 911 SC: https://www.motortrend.com/news/2012...t-drivers-car/
