Beware of flatterers selling wheels.

No time wasted brother
but imho the wheels could be bigger in size.

I've been told there will never be Individual for the i3, i8, etc. because most of the body panels aren't painted, they are just that color (impregnated), which is why there are so few color options. The one off Concours d'Elegance edition was taken to a separate location and given a matte clear coat.

The parts are still painted but it's a different process then they use for the 'normal' BMWs where the whole car needs to be painted.
The outer skin of the i8 comes of quite easily so it should be relatively inexpensive to put on an individual color by a good paint shop, they don't have to worry about masking parts and painting the insides, engine compartment, etc. |

They have do been a few individual cars but at very great cost to the customer due to the logistics involved. And no they will not do it for you.
Steven Spielberg and George Lucas are but two.

Update!
I've changed a few little things after my last post and I think it makes a big difference. From day 1 I wasn't too happy with my wheels, the rims looked too small (20") and the tires too big (/40) also the stance was not something I was proud of, the front wheels looked like they had a lot of positive camber. So back to the drawing boards. First the gap between the fenders and the tires had to go, so I fitted some H&R springs, not too much drop (it still clears most speed bumps without trouble) but visually quite noticeable. Then the color of the wheels, I've ordered them in Bronze to go with the blue of my first wrap and PlastiDipped them in a custom grey color to match the grey accents when I wrapped it in Yellow. It was ok but far from perfect so time to throw on some real paint, Grigio Opaco by Aprilia it is now. And last but not last I decided to put on some tire decals to make the tires look smaller. And here it is, not done but I'm starting to like the current looks more and more. Too bad I didn't have time to enjoy it for long, after completion it had to go to a car show here in NL. Hope you guys like it! |

The matt yellow cladding does deliver on the wow/stunning factor for me. However, the wheels look a little less progressive for the i8 in comparison to its stock/option OEMs. The wheel choice would be a more appropriate option to consider for the light colored exterior M4 or M5 I've been contemplating on (Becoming dark wheel fanatic these days since they do a great job in highlight the rest of the car and they mask brake dust effectively). Also, glad you removed the white lettering on the tires as it gave the i8 more of a NASCARish/IMSA sponsored type look.
As for the baby blueish wrapped car, I am stunned beyond belief and in a different way. Therefore, I am left speechless. |
