Now Mitch McConnell is aging that th NRA has to approve of any given nominee as well. Funny, I don't recall an election where the NRA was deputized a a legislator.

There's no "rule" it's just bullshit posturing and following some dipshit unwritten rule that no new USSC nominees can be confirmed during a lame duck session.

I don't understand why they refuse to hear them out, Senate Republicans aren't going to like any justice Hillary nominates and they likely won't like any that Trump nominates so what do they stand to gain here? Most Republicans already like Garland.

Not if you ask them today, I'd wager.

Apart from the time he "found his balls" and told the world that his number one goal was to make sure Obama was a one-term president?

There's very little evidence of where Garland stands on SCOTUS-level issues. The DC district court hears mostly regulatory cases. So having an Obama appointee, who is strongly supported by Harry Reid, Diane Feinstein, etc., as well as the Washington Post and New York Times should give everyone an idea of where he stands.

Go Mitch - block block block.

Or they could do what they're being paid to do and give the process a chance to work. If the nominee is as slanted to one side as you apparently love to repeat, the process will expose it and that will be that.

No, the Democrats changed the game (again), and now want to take the high road of "fairness." The Republicans shouldn't play.

The process (as Dems re-defined it) is working.

This is why our political system is broken. Republican or Democrat, this should not be OK.

Also, if I recall, didn't the Democrats at least have hearings? It seems that Turtle is refusing that, even.

Last I heard, there have been no changes to this constitutionally-documented process.

You are absolutely correct - the republicans are following the Democrats lead.

The dems didn't change anything and this is not the first time a lame duck president has nominated a SC justice.

Block, block block has been Mitch's motto from day one. Can't believe more people aren't pissed at how the GOP has completely stonewalled govt for the last 8 years. Disgusting. And you idiots who get behind that shit are just as culpable.

But they indicated they would "Bork" any republican nominee- so the end result is the same.
