Okay, so generally I am quick to commend Trump when his administration sets some positive policies (there have been several) and I am usually honest and will criticize him on his policy mistakes and blunders (been several of those as well), but this has to be one of the dumbest statements I've ever heard come out of a President's mouth:
When speaking to reporters on the South Lawn of the White House before departure, President Trump stated: ""I have the absolute right to declare a national emergency. The lawyers have so advised me. I'm not prepared not to do that yet, but if I have to, I will. I have no doubt about it. I will," he said. "Other presidents have used this, some fairly often. I have the absolute right to declare an emergency. I haven't done it yet. I may do it if this doesn't work out. I probably will do it. I would almost say definitely." Good grief that is some nonsensical and incoherent babble. Someone really needs to work with him on this, because it doesn't help him make his case at all. Okay, back to the regular scheduled debates on the wall. ![]()

What would it mean if Trump did declare a national emergency? Would funding for his wall be automatic? Would it come from the defence budget? |

Personally, I don't think he should - I think it sets a bad precedence that might be used the other way down the road by the next President (think the Harry Reid Nuclear Option and how it is backfiring).

This is politics, pure and simple. And don't forget, they Democrats were ready to spend $30,000,000,000 (if I remember correctly) for the border as a compromise for the DACA crowd with Mr. Trump. Are they really opposed to a wall or just Mr. Trump?

The charade of Trump has been laid bare. One of the things he emphasized when running was that he was a deal maker, and master negotiator. What does a master negotiator do? What does a great deal maker do? Makes both sides feel like they're winning, and gets a deal done. Outside of the prison reform, I don't see Trump ever having done this in two years. A master negotiator doesn't go on Twitter and call the people he's negotiating with names.

Not at all. I generally read them all but prior to reading I like to know a bit about the author which helps me to understand the direction of the article. This one in particular is a bit long so admittedly I skimmed over it while working ;-)

As I am always proud to point out, I left FOX news very late in 2015 when I realized they were simply pandering to my views. I loved O'Reilly, Kelly, and Van Sustren, but the news & subject matter were very slanted. Now with all those figures gone, replaced by less intelligent talking heads, I feel sorry for anyone buying into their crap. Having a wide variety of sources you can use to triangulate to the truth is much better.

What's with the 'props' at this news conference at the border patrol station? Are border guards carrying M107s now?
