It's my thread, you can hijack. I bet most people don't know it was a book. It's just another action movie. And the movies are normally disappointing if you've read the book. I agree, Reacher's size is a key part of his character.

Cruise as Reacher is just silly. He should look like Gronkowski, not Cruise. Actually, Randy Orton is listed as 6'5" and 250lbs, Gronk's a little bigger at 6'6" and about 265lbs. ![]() |

Great thread. I'm a voracious reader but tend to stick to non-fiction. I'm currently reading League of Denial: The NFL, Concussions and the Battle for the Truth by Mark Fainaru-Wada. I have a number of others in the queue.

All the Frank Herbert books were a good read. His son cant hold the torch though. Theres a new Dune movie(’s) in the works as we speak.

I read a mix of fiction and history/biography.
Just finished "The Border" by Don Winslow (the third book in his Mexican drug cartel series of novels). Brutal but excellent. I've read most of Greg Iles stuff and prefer his recent Natchez Burning trilogy to his earlier stuff. Just picked up his new one today, "Cemetery Road", but havn't read it yet). Reading Walter R Borneman's "The Admirals - Nimitz, Halsey, Leahy and King" right now. He is a history writer living in Denver, and he makes history interesting (some don't).

Ha, chapter 3 begins with “My father served as an army doctor in West Germany in the 1960s, and it was there he acquired a taste for dark beer and high-performance automobiles. He has been driving BMWs ever since he could afford them, and he drives fast.”

I'm surprised no one mentioned Nelson Demille's John Corey series. No love for Corey? If you haven't read them I highly recommend the series. I did like the earlier books more than the more recent. His stand alones are pretty good too. The Cathedral was a good read. I didn't like the Gold Coast and the Gate house, although some rave that these were his best books
![]() Run Silent I almost forgot about Michael Connelly's Harry Bosch.

Coontz or Koontz? If Koontz, a lot of his stuff is too out there for me. I did like Odd Thomas but couldn't get into Forever Odd and the subsequent books. Anyway, I recently read three or four books in the Jane Hawk series. They were pretty good, the story line is believable. You should check out this book. The Terminal List - Jack Carr. He's a former Navy Seal. This was his first book, pretty damn good.

I could see that. He was also awesome as Jack Silva in the 13 Hours movie. Mitch is supposed to be dark skinned and dark haired - physically able to pass as Middle Eastern, so Krasinski isn't a great fit from that viewpoint, but a pretty minor thing with the other casting follies we've been discussing. I can't think of anyone who would necessarily be a better fit than Krasinski. Last edited by hooligan_COLD; 03-14-2019 at 10:33 AM.. |
