57 degree F average and yet 350 mile range
Just came back from 400 mile road trip. Even though it was only an average of 57 degrees F for the return trip home, went 249 miles from our singular charge with 111 mile range showing as we pulled into our garage. Very happy with that. If it had been 75 or 80 degree, might we have gotten 375+?
Another nice piece was using the BMW route planning app, double confirmed in advance by checking ABRP, we went to a newish EA charger location (Madras, OR) which had six 350 kW chargers. Can’t tell you how many worked, though our charger perfectly did (plug and play and dispensing/receiving 195 kW in less than one minute), with the other five chargers then being empty. But before we left, a Kia pulled up, plugged in and charged easily at the one he had chosen. No one else was there for our 45 minutes. BTW, it has a dog walking area, was clean, and was located at a Safeway/Albertsons' with a Starbucks — so truly a perfect charge up. Not expecting this as all EA’s in the future LOL, but the last five we have used have worked really well. |

50-65F seems ideal temp range as no heat and no A/C?

Just returned from Seattle to Portland (76% -> 25% @ 3.2mi/kw) and when I pulled into an EA station (because I just wanted to get a little juice in the battery before returning home) for 15mins my car said at "100%" the range could estimate out to 366mi. This car is more than capable in range.

That’s some incredible range. Just returned from western Kansas…a combination of two lane a four lanes. Temps in the 50 s and average speed, which ncluded driving through a number small towns, about 60 mph. Ave miles per kWh…3.0. If I could drive a smooth and steady 65mph it would do better…but that’s not my use case. Actually I’m pretty pleased we 300 miles + of real range…. Way better than my old model 3

Regarding range- driving to NY from Florida
I constantly see over 350 in range but the reality it seems I am getting 3.1 miles per KW. Mid’s 80s temp and speed generally 72, no higher That equates to 325 at most. Also using efficient mode Can’t tell if the car preconditioning works or not |

The way to typically tell is by either looking at the top right corner and you can see a battery icon that switches between another icon up there (can't remember). If the route is already within the navigation, the iDrive system will automatically start the preconditioning as you approach.

Actually I was thinking of battery pre conditioning while driving to a charger.
As I might have mentioned, lost my plug and charge certificate for EA in the car so no plug and charge but using BMW all gets me the free 30 minutes. Called genius, they couldn’t get certificate or contract back, they told me to call EA. That was useless as they eventually told me to call BMW. Not worth wasting my time but dealing with EA is just A PLEASURE my trip from Florida to NY of over 1300 miles averaged 3.2 miles per kw. 1st have of trip was 3.1 and second half was 3.3. I usually don’t go below 20% of battery but enjoyed the range compared to my Mach E which ranges from 270-300. I am much more confident in the BMW than the Ford and the ride is light years better. Also my horn is broken, after 1500 miles, nice. Edit: temp was cooler on the second leg of the trip and much more traffic which probably helped in the mileage range |

certainly my experience... not only for the ease of keeping the cabin to around 70F, but also for traction/tire resistance... 75F temps likely mean 125F roads and even warmer tires... great for traction, but bad for efficiency due to that increased rolling resistance, which has much more of an impact than the HVAC.
