My i4 M50 hates going west for some reason
I know that the range calculation is garbage and I am getting 3.1 Miles /KWH so not terrible in Northern Virginia, but, my car has a bizarre glitch imo….I commute 44 miles to my office, it is eastbound in and westbound home. On the commute in, I consistently arrive at the office with more range available than when I leave home (I typically use 16-19% battery on the commute). On the ride home, I always arrive with 75-80 miles less range than when I leave the office. Wonder why going west is so taxing? Commute home has about a 300 foot elevation rise, and traffic is typically worse on the evening commute…other than that, can’t understand the discrepancy. Definitely keep my speed the same and am always driving in B and Eco Pro….

Even after charging while at the office? I typically top off to 80%…

it's amplified given an increase in elevation for OP as well. 300' is nothing to scoff at. I have a 500' gain on my way to drop off my daughter every morning and I'm happy if I achieve 2.0 mi/kWh in the 7 miles there, but I hit about 3.8 mi/kWh on my way back.
@m8cgcdan, have you looked at the average consumption rate on your way to the office vs home? If you're averaging ~3.1 in total and that's your main use, you might be something like 3.6 east and 2.6 west to have that much of a range change throughout your commute... With my experience over the last 8 months I'd say those could be pretty reasonable/expected values for 300 ft. downhill over 44 miles of smooth driving vs 300 ft uphill with traffic.

Yup elevation sucks as well. My i4 hates going home. Going to work it would use 12% SoC, going home it uses 14-15% depending on how bad the traffic is.
Going to work has more decrease in elevation vs going home but the traffic is 5-6times worse going home. My consumption going to work is 3.9-4.1 but the best I can do coming home is 3.4 |

I just made a 25 mile each-way commute with about a -250' change on the way down. My average on the way down was 3.5... it actually shocked me, as it was mainly highway, and I was running late, so hit some of the corners and onramps hard and was well over 70mph for a good portion of the trip. If I babied it, I likely would have saw something closer to 4. On the way back, I averaged 3.1 with the +250' change (so 3.3). No real traffic here and I calmed down a bit... if I had stop-and-go traffic on some of the up-hill portions on the way back, drove in a similar fashion, etc., the difference between the two would have been much greater, leading to the sorts of GOM discrepancies you see daily.
