Questions on the U.S. I4 eDrive40 features
Hey guys, first post here. I preordered back in September and have a few questions after looking at the preorder sheet that someone was good enough to post:
* Is there 3 zone HVAC? I know I've seen temperature controls for the rear passengers in pictures, but I didn't see it on the preorder list. I may have missed it. * Can you get power folding mirrors? Again, unless I missed it, I didn't see it on that order sheet. Maybe that will be clarified this week? * Again, I apologize if I missed it, but I'm assuming there is a front passenger power seat? * I'm interested in the oyster seats, but it seems as if you can't order those with the ventilated seat option. I might be misinterpreting the order form. * When you're contacted for the next step in the ordering process, can you still back out prior to delivery and get back the deposits you've given? * Is there a range estimate for the 18", 19" & 20" wheels yet? I know they've projected a 300 mile range estimate for this I4 variant, but is that based on 18" or 19" wheels? Thanks! Last edited by Ken7; 11-14-2021 at 09:13 AM.. |

Folding mirrors are standard Power seat for the passenger is standard. Ventilated seats are mocha or black only. Don't know the 300 range. I'm ordering an M50 with 20" wheels. You can back out all the way up to before you sign the final papers and get a refund. They don't care. They will be able to sell the car if you don't want it.

Thanks Techwhiz1. I wonder what the rationale for the ventilated seats only being available in mocha or black?
Here's where I saw a 3rd zone on the climate control. If you go to 9:55 in this video, you'll see the rear temperature controls. With that said, it does look cramped in the rear...at least for someone his height. |

It's appears that ventilated seats has lots of requirements. To get this option it looks like you lose power seats, you must have heated seats, you lose adjustable width/bolsters, plus the color limitation mentioned.
I wanted ventilated, but way too much to give up in order to get it. Last edited by kbsilver; 11-14-2021 at 12:16 PM.. |

Almost certainly plant complexity and build combinations. The plants usually are just-in-time and in-sequence, but many OEMs also keep about 4 hours of components on-site for flow protection, and seat racks take up a lot of plant floor space. Mocha and black are likely predicted to be high-runners, so they optimized which colors they needed in two more "with/without" versions regarding ventilation.

You do lose the adjustable side bolsters. I think I want the bolsters. If I'm hot, I'll just blast the AC.

This may not mean in the UK how it's used here, but you don't want to leave out the "W".

Note on the US pricing guide for option 4FH (Front Ventilated Seats) indicates it will delete 490 and 459 (power front seats - standard in US) from the order.

Delete the standard power seat sales code Add the ventilated seat sales code (which also has power) but is defined by ventilation. The first sales code has to be deleted before the second one added. The plan does not operate on the premise of just adding ventilation. There won't be a manually adjusted ventilated seat.

That will be shown in the order guide and, if so, likely for the reasons I discussed previously about build combinations and plant complexity.

But, those will not be ventilated.

There's no clarity on when you actually get manual seats vs power seats. From reading this post and others it seems like you lose power seats when you choose seat ventilation which doesn't make sense.

It's the other way around. If you choose manual seats, you will not have ventilation, as I noted in the prior post.
