With kid it's a bit harder to plan everything. If it was me, I'd fly to Switzerland tomorrow and stay in mountains/lakes for a month.

This is just one persons take on Rome. It's so much history it's overwhelming to me. My brain couldn't take in everything I was learning. The Trevi fountain, well I felt like I was standing outside Caesar's in Vegas. While we were there they had opened the underground of the Coliseum for a short period and we got to explore that which was really cool. They closed it again right after we left for more exploration. The Vatican was neat to see but way to much going on. I enjoy the smaller European towns without out all the hustle and bustle. You can find that in neighborhoods of Rome which we did and that was my favorite part. I also guess it depends on what you are interested in. It was neat to see and checked it off but could care less to go back.

Switzerland is amazing! I would definitely vote on renting a house on the lake. We met some people while we were there and still stay in touch with them. We were going to try and meet up again on the lake but Covid happened.

Before my son was born, I was planning Rome and car to Amalfi. That's what a friend of mine did, told me Rome is 3 days max and gets boring after that. But with 5 year old now, I am not sure he will be excited to look at all the history.
Croatia is another place. Friends rent house there almost every year.

Morocco, Egypt, Jordan....I understand Morocco and Jordan are relatively safe, but Egypt makes me a bit nervous. The entire region really, but there is some amazing history there.

I'd love to do all those regions but yeah a) you never know when shit will hit the fan and B) so many stories of people being thrown in jail for no good reason and left to rot. I just don't trust any of them tbh.

Exactly. I'm a huge fan of ancient Egyptian culture, to the point I used a few of my electives in college on Egyptian art classes, I find it all fascinating.

Komodo Island

Otherwise, I'll just keep going back to Hawaii because I'm a creature of habit.

We just came from France and Monaco, I really like it there. It's our 2nd time. Been to Italian lakes, cinque terre, and Florence too (very nice, can go 2nd time maybe). I like Switzerland too, was thinking of renting a house on a lake there.

So turns out my son has 2 weeks off daycare next month, booked Switzerland. And bought DJI Mini 3 to take my photography to the next level can't wait, Alps is my heaven....
Speaking of heaven, almost got killed by semi truck few days ago.....it was pretty close. Leson learned, NEVER stop in breakdown lane < seriously

When you get to Switzerland, look back towards the US. That green glow on the horizon is my envy.

Monaco is a hard place to watch a race unless you have access. And of course there is very little passing there. It is Monaco though.

And be prepared to be astounded at the price of anything.

Did you go? Not the best year to be on the mountain.

You will enjoy that a lot. Make reservations now and find someone with a casino host <G>.

I want to participate in one of the closed course road races in the US. Sandhills probably. It's the closest to me.
I would love to get to something like the Summer Nats in Australia or Gatebil in Norway, But I've never flown and I'm afraid of heights. So those things will be really tough for me to do.
Consider the Outlaws at Eldora. Or the Knoxville Nationals or Chili Bowl. The great thing is it's up close and personal and a way different crowd than you'll find in Monaco. <G>

And of course there is nothing like the Daytona 500, the 24 hour at Daytona or the Indy 500.

You will enjoy any of these. For me just being at the track is therapeutic.

I just want to see the Northern Lights. Moraine Lake looks cool, too, so maybe I'll check that out.

Was planning to stop by here if it's not too much hiking. Not sure if cable car stops here

There aren't a lot of places that call to me that I would say are bucket list places I want to go. Honestly I'm pretty contempt hanging out in the middle of nowhere.

I guess if I had to pick one vacation I would like to do regardless of $$ it would probably be renting out one of those private islands with just friends and family. Obviously one that comes fully staffed with food drinks etc. However no one else on the island except us.

Being from Tulsa, I've probably been to it a dozen times, including the inaugural year. Once I was out of college, my dad and I used to always go on Tuesdays, the first night. Tons of racing, and the Race of Champions exhibition race between all the past winners. Didn't count for anything but bragging rights.

Now that I'm in OKC, I haven't been in a 6 years. It's not that far of a drive, but it's a PITA to burn 1.5 days of vacation for about 6 hours of watching.
