Gotta love cheap TVs

Gotta love 'em. I needed a second 32" screen for the pain cave (exercise room) so I could run Zwift or a rowing app on one screen and watch a movie or ball game on the other. I didn't need anything high end or web connected. Just a screen with HDMI inputs and at least 720p resolution. We were in Walmart tonight and there was a 32" Sanyo for $128. Doesn't get any easier than that. And the thing weighs maybe 4lbs. I remember needing a two-wheeler to haul 27" TVs around. And they ran $700-$900.

Those TCLs can't be beat, in my opinion. Quality is more than ample for anyone who isn't a hardcore videophile, great connected features, and price is great. We picked up a 49" for our porch for around $250 - cost us more to get it mounted on the stone fireplace!

I almost got the 65” TCL but then after re-measuring we went to a 75” Samsung. If the larger TV wouldn’t have fit, I would have definitely got the TCL. It looked that good.

Prices are definitely improving, especially for the smaller sized tv's. We picked up a 43" LG 4k smart tv for my daughter's room last night on sale for $269!

Sales are coming for Super Bowl weekend too. Usually a good time to grab one the weekend of.

TV's are becoming a disposable item with a 4 year life span max.

Still got my Sony LCD 720p that was purchased back in 2006 that's running strong, but they don't make them like that anymore.

I had my 65" TCL TV fail. This is their top of the line 6 series which was $1000. The screen started flickering with random digital noise and then after a while the whole screen just displayed a weird pattern and was not responsive to any input. It was only 3 months old so they sent me a new TV and picked up the old one.

Still, if a TV is failing in 3 months, I am hoping the replacement lasts longer!

Hopefully just a dud. The one on our porch is a 4 series and it's been working fine for almost a year now. No cover or anything either...it just sits out there in the heat/cold/humidity/whatever. Has been through all four seasons.

I have 2 in the 40" size. I'm limited by furniture to that size, so these aren't going anywhere soon. UNfortunately, one isn't responsive to the box controller, so I have to turn it on/off/swap inputs manually.

Word. I just got a 50inch LG 4K with WiFi for $398, no tax and free shipping for a 4th bedroom.

Replacing a Samsung DLP that had been running since 2006 on the same bulb. It’s still fine, but the bulb has finally dimmed to the point it’s done. Replacing the bulb might be $75, so I figured it’s time to move on with so many cheap TVs available.

My first non-tube TV was a 50" Panny Plasma - technically 768p because it was a pro display not a TV. Bought for $3500 in 2003 and didn't even have speakers or a tuner.

Still running strong. Not the brightest brights or inkiest blacks, but color accuracy is awesome. The main reason I upgraded was because I started having too many other components that only worked over HDMI!
