UK i8 owners -

Just want to ask - if you have a 2018 i8 or newer, what is the annual roaad tax your paying?

I seem to be reading a few conflicting reports and just want to check what ir will be for either 2018 or 2019 roadster.

many thanks.

I think smthg like £140 + addtional £280 first 3 years since the car was over £40k new. So £400+ a year

I paid £455 at the end of March for an 18 plate LCI. My old 16 plate was free of course.

Its £140 a year plus £325 for the first FIVE years, I got mine just a few weeks before it changed, so mine is one of the last tax free i8's. Worth £2k over the first five years, so was a deal breaker for me at the time (or I'd have looked for the dealer to fill the hole).

Why did I only pay £455?

Tax year ending 5/4/20? The numbers I quoted are for the current tax year.

Was it early or late 2018 when the tax rate changed?

Big difference between free and £465 isn’t there. Wonder if the pre 2018 cars will be worth more in the resale?

April 2017 when it went from being free. From that point the pricing became effectively the same for all cars over £40k on the road price regardless of emissions unless it was all electric.

I just bought a new S3 as my run around and had to be careful speccing it to keep it under £40k or I'd have ended up paying an extra £1700 in road tax!!

That’s crackers isn’t it, at least emissions made some sense. So it’s basically a tax because someone can afford to pay it.

It’s never been for the right reason, like how many miles you actually do on the uk roads. My second car before I bought this was a Jag at £520 a year tax and I only did 800 miles in it!
