Door hinges yearly?

BIMMERPOST
     Featured on BIMMERPOST.com
I got my first notification for the yearly maintenance and alongside the usual suspects (oil, spark plugs and ac micro filter) it said I should change the door hinges.
I drive it daily but can't tell much of a difference since I bought it in December with respect to the doors.

Are the door hinges really necessary to be replaced yearly or it is just a cash grab?

I think if you check the maintenance schedule in your owners manual BMW recommends replacing the gas springs that hold the door open every few years and check the tightness of the door hinge mounting bolts. Nothing about replacement of the hinges.

I have a 2019 and the dealer replaced both of my door struts last week. The driver side was not opening up all the way, I had to push it up the last few inches.

I’d just leave it…if it needs doing later is easy and a lot cheaper to do yourself. i8 Pat has a video on uTube.

I have 2014 and just had maintenance done, the hinges were definitely serviced for 320 USD….and they were previously replaced once too.

My local dealer claimed that they are not covered under warranty because they are normal wear and tear items. I asked them how much to change the door struts and they quoted me $1000, and that was a couple of years ago. It’s no wonder they’re called stealerships. I bought my own for $200 and will do it myself. It’s not that hard.
