what makes tracking an electric car different than a gas equivalent ? I assume it has to do with weight distribution from shifting but I'm a novice and would like to hear from experts chime in.

How far does it get before battery overheating problems kick in? Did they solve anything in regard to that compared to other EVs that cant do 1 lap without reduced power kicking in..
Seen both tesla and polestar fail to do 1 lap on youtube.. |

Porsche solved it with the Taycan and newer Tesla performance models have better cooling too. I would hope the M50 would have the right level of cooling to be used on the track for a reasonable amount of time.
Maybe the 40 would overheat quicker but that would be a reasonable compromise for the normal vs M model. |

On gasoline cars, the real M cars have a bunch of extra cooling and additional oil pumps for prolonged turning Gs... I'd hope the M division EVs would also have the equivalent additional cooling to. Then again it might just be an M performance vs a real M...

The M technology pack that you get when speccing the 20" wheels says something about extra cooling in addition to the 374mm rotors. But there is no real spesification, and also speculation that the text is just copy paste from 440M / ICE models.

You can spec the M Technology pack with 19' rims as well if you choose the performance tires.

Nice video highlighting (most likely ongoing) suspension tuning.
The question is still open: whether buying / leasing BMW's EV at V1.0 makes sense. |

Advantages are you never shift so, so you save some time there Weight is located very low so it's better for handling The car always weights the same, no Gas tank Disadvantages, you have extra weight on average about 800lbs compared to ice equivalent Range flat out it's probably 45min on even best EVs You can't just fill the tank in 5 mins Once batteries get light enough and with longer range, ice will have no advantage at all but for subjective stuff like engine noise and the like |

Some lighting it's amazing. Dynamic and deep. Other times it's meh. Currently the color I chose for my order. I flip flop daily.

To add a little bit of excitement, I opened a second tab and played a video an M440i testing on the track while watching this video.

I really hate the widened rear wheel arches, they look like a glued on afterthought. Why do the tires on these specific 20 inch wheels need to be 1 cm wider than the rest of the wheel options...

As a driving enthusiast this is the most appealing EV on the market in my opinion. Definitely going to be dynamically superior/more fun handling than Tesla, attainably priced, and not an absurdly common appliance like the Model 3 is.
I'll always err on the side of it's BMW ICE counterpart though. BMW's Inline 6 in that car sounds great, you get the engagement of shifting your own gears, and likely significantly lighter. After tax credits both will prob have similar MSRP.

Battery is cooled by AC so no real extra things are needed like radiators like Tesla's do.
