This happens all of the time.

I firmly believe in carrying on the sports car gene, which is learned. If I have time and people are truly curious without being jerks, I take the time to talk about the vehicle and, as a surprising shocker of the day, I encourage them to get in the vehicle and explore it. I especially do this if kids are involved. This is the way we capture the hearts and minds and create new enthusiasts. I only ask that they remove any pens or other sharp items from their pockets and have clean hands...thereafter, have at it.

Compared to this level of attention, my M6 is non-existent...unless I'm at full throttle!!

Wish you lived in Cali... I would come meet you haha and look at the car in person. That's good we still have people that are kind hearted and not stuck up like some of the drivers in L.A. I swear some of them think there entitled becase they drive this and that... On another note, how does it feel to be able to afford those type of cars?

Indeed. When I was a new driver and my parents turned me loose on the general public, the first place I went was the Porsche dealership. I was 15 and could clearly NOT afford one and a salesperson took me for a ride in a 924 Turbo. He told me that he did it as an investment in car culture and expected it to pay dividends down the road. I haven't purchased a Porsche yet but I came really close to a fully kitted out 991 Turbo about 2 months ago. I still remember the name of the salesperson that took me on the ride...thanks for everything Mr. Knight. I remember his kindness and try to pass it along to any enthusiast.

It feels like 30 years of hard work, lots of luck, a supportive family, great team members, and some really great mentors.

Wow, interesting story! My little brother has a good friend who's about my age, that drives a Porsche Panomara. It's an absolute beauty as well. I defaintly remember my younger days though... I lay in bed some nights and thank god that I can afford to drive a $50K now. It's an awsome feeling and took a lot of hard work, just like yourself. The people that ask questions about my car, I do the same thing you do and answer them lol.

I also used to do this in my previous R8. The looks on faces of the kids in the car was priceless. I firmly believe that you should share the enjoyment of these things when you have the privilege of owning them.

My car continues to get lots of pictures even while it is moving and we are now approaching 1 year of release date. I have not seen anyone take a picture of a Tesla as of yet.

I think one of the best days in the life of a much younger guy I know (I think he is 20) is that another gentleman took him out in his V10 R8 on a Saturday, and he texted to tell me me how excited he was. So I said: want to come over and compare it to the Tesla and the i8? The look on his face through the two test drives were priceless (yes I let him drive it, he seemed pretty skilled for his age and careful and I took him places where he couldn't hurt himself).

He already loves cars/car culture but I think that day may have forever warped his priorities in life...mission accomplished!

Lol!

This is my daughter's life, as well. She has accompanied our loosely affiliated car club in the passenger seat in the following vehicles:

Audi R8 V10, McLaren MP4-12C LeMans Edition, Ferrari 430, Lamborghini Gallardo Superleggera, Ferrari 360, Maserati Grantourismo, and an E63 M6. She has also sat in a McLaren F1, Pagani Huyera, McLaren P1, Dodge Viper ACR, and Bentley Continental GT.

Harsh life for a 17 y/o. In high school, she was the resident Car Guy! Priorities Warped...Mission Accomplished!!

So you realize she is pretty much screwed when she buys any car for herself right? I mean what kind of normal car will ever work for her now?

Well done.....well done....

Forgot you're in that area. That post wasn't directed towards you. Anyhow just the overall vibe and peoples attitudes that have nice cars... It's not all of them, just a good majority of them. Some people think becuase they drive this and have this amount of money, they don't need road manners. It's just something I noticed quite a bit, when I was down there in June.

Guilty as charged. I'm old enough to remember when people had sufficient pride in their writing to do it correctly. Spelling, grammar, sentence structure.

Then again many of us are not from an English speaking country and I bet his English is better than your Finnish or Swedish for example. ☺. The location doesn't always reveal the nationality.

I've found that most foreigners take pains to write properly. Spelling is better, aided by spellcheck. Grammar is much better. ("Whom" is used properly; verbs match nouns.) Americans often spell as if they are guessing based on pronunciation.

What foreigner, for example, would write "I would of done something different"? And yet someone on this board, who posts quite a bit, recently made that clearly American error (although that was not the exact sentence in which he did it). That error occurs a lot because many Americans write phonetically, don't have a clue about grammar and don't care.

And I'm sure any foreigner's English is better than my French (my "second language," from 3 years of high school and two years of college).
