Is it possible the blue eboost text only started appearing after the break in period. I didn’t notice it before and the car feels faster now.

No, that's there from the start. However you will notice that power and recuperating change with the battery temperature. Cold LiIon Batteries don't like high power discharge and charging is even worse. So the i8 modifies those limits all the time. In warmer Temperatures you will also notice higher electric range.
