Any reason not to update to iDrive 8.5

When taking delivery of new 2024 iX, would anyone NOT ask the dealer to make sure the HU was updated to 8.5 upon delivery?

It’s the vehicle was built from July 1 onward, it’s going to have it preinstalled already. You want to install it to keep current with all of the bug fixes - and historically speaking, there have been many.

I don't think you can NOT update the OS - any version - and have the software reliably operate. Too many hard ops integral to the HU running it. You might get away with it for awhile, but eventually something deep would break.

My concern really is it an 8.5.0 release or have the initial bugs been shaken out?

I fear that you are correct, but this is making me sad. Not to boast or jinx myself, but 8.0 has been bulletproof for me on the new HU and its default home-page layout makes way more sense than that of 8.5, imo.

Probably not, as 8.5 has not really been distributed yet.

Speaking of bugs, I still sporadically get the "pushing wheel left/right doesn't cycle through the presets" bug in 8.0

Please both share what tomorrow brings, and then share as you live with it , e.g., what you like, what is working well, and of course any/all issues you might be having.

It'd be nice to have a point of comparison between OS8 and OS8.5.
