...WTF.
I'm sorry, but you need to include evidence to support your statement. There's NO WAY that BMW can cancel the CSL and the CS. Wow. If they're still continuing with the M versions of the X5 and X6 then my respect for them has severely diminished.

Today's statement of Norbert Reithofer:
"But there is another aspect towards improving profitability: We are reviewing all product projects again. And we thus have decided that there will not be a series model of the Concept CS." http://www.press.bmwgroup.com/pressc...rt_q3_2008.pdf Best regards, south

BMW CS Concept Based Production Version Officially Cancelled!!
Sorry if a
Looks like BMW won't be fielding a Porsche Panamera competitor after all. The CS Concept, planned as a new flagship to replace the 8-Series, has officially been cancelled. Citing product and project reviews in the face of the current financial crisis in Europe and the United States, BMW's CEO Norbert Reithofer announced that the concept is officially a no-go. BMW plans to put its resources toward future technology, its EfficientDynamics and project i programs. It's a disappointing move for BMW fans, but a prudent one. The current market for super-sedans is limited and likely to become more so if the economic situation continues to get worse. Though a financial upturn could see renewed consideration for the CS Concept, BMW was mute on the chances of this happening. Source: BMW via bmwtoday.de via bmwblog |

Agreed. Why would it be disappointing for BMW fans? The car's the size of a tank and the exterior was terrible.

WTF??? Sad news indeed!
The article says that BMWs brand image is strong enough and that there is no need for another "brand shaper". They rather focus on EfficientDynamics and project i (new small car). But why would they build the PAS and cancell the CS...come on?! |

WTF!!! That sucks. I really had high hopes for that car. I sure hope they will still use a lot of the styling cues from it for future models. This world economy better turn around soon!

you're right south. it is sad that BMW is going this way, but I guess that they need to do what is going to be most profitable. i think a lot of the enthusiasts on here (including me), would much prefer a different direction for ///M though.

Wow, just wow.
When I go to a MB showroom, I get giddy in knowing I could see a Black Series or a XX65. I guess I can face the reality that I won't ever get that feeling going to a BMW lot.
