Hello - new i8 owner here, and first question

Hi chaps,

Just took ownership of a Protonic Yellow i8 and I love it.

Had a Jaguar F-type V6 S before, and have been very impressed so far - noticably quicker, lovely interior, etc.

Last day of warranty today, so in at dealer for end of warranty check, then will be getting BMW extended warranty for at least the first year.

Working through youtube videos and articles.

I've got an iCar BT OBD2 connector and have bimmercode working fine. But for some reason bimmerlink doesn't work. which is weird. anyone had the same issue ?

Congrats, and welcome! Love the color! I'm new to the i8 as well, just got mine about a month ago.

Looks great. Bimmer code and bimmer link work fine, providing the dongle is in first and the car is off, then started up.

yeh so not sure what i was doing wrong, but both are now working!

currently fitting a switch to control exhuast valve after deciding I don't like it open all the time.

i8 prices : autotrader.co.uk. I'd say I think they are low compared to europe - certainly an exact same frozen yellow was on sale in germany for 17k euros more than I just got mine for.

I have also changed from V6 f type to roadster. Thought I would miss the noise but must be getting old I don’t at all. I drive in electric mode most of the time which I prefer.

I don't think it is open all the time is it? I didn't think it was.

Bimmerlink lets you select between open, closed and auto, although I can't really tell the difference - not sure if it's actually working or I just can't tell!

Welcome and similar story. I actually went from an F-Type R to an i8 and sometimes miss the top-end grunt of the Jag, but love the extra room, the refinement, and just looking at it. My "really fast" car is now an M760i, makes up for the sale of the R.
