That's why I lease. I did NOT want to deal with that nonsense.
Same. Also, the NSX value could tank, we don't know yet?

Why is this even a comparison, such a stretch for a story in my opinion.

I would not be surprised to see a two year old NSX well under $100k in two years. Very few cars outside Porsche brand are holding their value well.

doesn't the i8 sit on Prius tires? looks really bad from the rear view, it has all the dramatic lines on the body, but sits on some thin ass tires for sure.

Amen, not a tremendous second hand market for $175k Acuras I imagine. All cars in this price range take a hit though. Only $ million + cars appreciate

that's the reality of depreciation on Japanese vs. German cars.

Mic Drop.

For the money and purpose the i8 seems a bit lost in the high end exotic category. The Ferrari though...

And what, pray tell, do you imagine the purpose of the i8 to be? This is where the misunderstanding starts ...

Price vs power. Still not getting it. Watch Clarkson on the i8 vs M3. Maybe that will open your eyes.

Apples and oranges.

The original NSX was a) a pain to drive, b) didn't sell very well, c) didn't have a successor. All three of those points made it a collector car, which drives up prices.

With the exception of a), the i8 may still "achieve" the same. And we'll see where prices go then. Either way, not worried at all. I'm enjoying every minute in a car that is without comparison at the moment, no matter how hard car magazines might try.

A lot of similar criticisms could be leveled at the prius, or i3, or M3. The point of the i8 is that it is pioneering a new niche. Clearly it is not for everyone. Comparisons are a stretch because the i8 is unique. Superb car for me, despite the impracticality.

Yeah the car is old already... For 150K-200K no thanks!

Wow. MDX switch-gear, not cool. Acura needs to take the NSX all electric, the current car does nothing for me, other than being a complete looker. Sad!

First, the interior. I owned 3 straight Acura MDX SUVs. My 2011 had a nice interior, in my opinion. My 2014, I truly despised the interior. Cheap plastic. Cheap leather. Bad infotainment. So bad I left Acura and went to Volvo. The XC90 is leagues above Acura in terms of interior design and quality. The NSX has many carryover parts from the MDX. It felt a lot like my MDX just with a different design. That turned me off a lot.

Second, the steering is set up too conservative, it wouldn't be awful in the street, but on the track (and yes I belong to thermal I would track the car) it would be odd. I pushed it just enough to on the street to tell how understeery (not a word I know) it is. It's almost like Acura went 90% of the way there with the car and got scared and stopped short of true torque vectoring.

Third, the sound. Well it's rubbish. This car would replace my 458 (not really a a BMW i8 competitor in my mind). The 458 sounds delicious. It really does make your hairs stand on end.

At the of the day, it lacked the specialness and visceral nature I would need in a 458 replacement. Also, not to sound like a snob, but there isn't any comparison from a prancing his staring at you from the steering wheel to an Acura badge.

I would give Acura a massive pat on the back if the car had came out in 2014 or 2015. But they worked on it for sooo long and revealed it way too early that the tech does not feel as special as it should.

Again, a lot of this is my personal feelings on the car. They may not reflect others opinions. If you disagree or even buy one I congratulate you and wish you all the happiness in the world.

Have you see the numbers on a low mileage Z8!!!!! Their getting up their ! Saw one here in Chicago and they wanted 300k for it!

It was an alpina but jeez!!

Funny my grandfather was going to buy one because it reminded him of his favorite classic Jag and when the dealer wanted a premium he walked because he never paid over sticker for any car, now I tease him about a lost investment lol .....
